Stylish Batsmen

Sohum, there isnt anything more graceful than a fullblooded pull into the 18th Tier of the MCG :p by Gilchrist ;)

Whilst it is thrilling to watch a Hayden or a Gilchrist in full flow, I find neither of them "stylish" players. They certainly aren't easy on the eye in my opinion. Jayawardene, Kallis, Martyn, Mark Waugh, Vaughan, Tendulkar, Lara, Yousuf and Azharuddin could/can all make batting look so, so easy when playing well.

I think Lance Klusener (when he used to keep his bat raised) was brute but a special style none the less. I think the way Dravid uses his wrists when batting is pretty stylish in consideration of all the hitters in cricket today. Also Dhoni is pretty ugly batting but in his own style of batting as well :D

I wanted to raise the same point but was a bit hesitant because I thought that there would be quite a few who would not agree with me.

Hayden,Gilchrist,Symonds,Dhoni,Jayasuriya may be very thrilling and equally effective batsmen but are not as pleasing to the eye as players like Sachin,Lara,Azharuddin,Vaughan,Kallis,Jayawardene,Mark Waugh,Yousuf or Inzy are.

Another player who I feel is very stylish is Yuvraj Singh.
He is a power hitter but a very stylish one though.

How about a Sehwag uppercut over the third-man boundary? :)

Yes, Yuvi has a lot of flair when batting. It's probably because of his high bat lift and complete follow through. Even his defensive shots look like complicated pieces of art.

I wud prefer Rahul Dravid than Sachin or VVS or Yuvi in India! Also, Lara for Windies and Rhodes for SA in my opinion :)

Brian Lara wasn't stylish. He would be the category of "Great to watch when on song". I thought his technique looked quite ugly TBH, but obviously brought success for him anyway. I could name a few names that are being accused of not being stylish who are more stylish then Lara.

A Stylish player is one who has both the technique & the quality shots. While Tendulkar, Mark Waugh & Kallis would be the top contendors for me.

Shane Watson looks to be a very stylish batsman aswell.

Ian Bell when he gets going, Vaughan. Glenn McGrath has a more stylish technique than Afridi :p

I personally find Yuvraj Singh, Ricky Ponting and Jacques Kallis to be quite stylish batsmen.

I think lara is a very stylish player becasue he has a very extravagant follow through, and some of his shots were those who nobody else can play, such as his very deft cut.

Jacques Kallis, Rahul Dravid, Michael Vaughan and Mohammed Yousuf, on form are the most stylish batsmen of their generation.

I think the way "stylish," is thought of is personal, like i said earlier, i find nothing more stylish than a huge hit off a spinner back over his head, it is so good to see, especially if the batsmen is cocky enough to hold his pose for a picture ;) But i also know a cover drive from Vaughan is stylish, but i'd still rather have a stylish 6 from Pietersen, even if it is a lovely looking reverse sweep :p
