Suggestions for next Bas Cricket game

In my opinion the following feature would make life of youtubers easy and help promote Big ants cricket game more online. Also add a lot of fun for the casual gamer to relive his match.

Highlights Package Creator with options to select :

4's
6's
Wickets
Near Misses, Edges, Batsman getting hit, Dropped Chances.
Milestones Individuals and Partnerships.

Have an option to create a package by including all or just any of them. Also have the option to replay them at real time & slow mo by selecting it when making the entire selection. For eg if i wanted to have real time and slo mo replays for wickets i would also tick the slo mo box. If not selected then just real time should play.

It could also have a time feature say 5 mins, 10mins or 15 mins lenght video where the computer decides on its own by randomly selecting events from the match and creating a package it self.

This way people will be easily be able to create a short highlights package (similar to what CA aus puts out after every game) for their matches and publish online increasing viewership and popularity of the game in general.

Please make the highlights play in a broadcast angle so that it feels you are watching an actual game. Rightnow some of the highlights start midway without the option to change camera angle. A Highlights package creator would be an awesome feature to have.

A share feature or an option to download highlights would be awesome. Thanks love your games.

Highlights Package Creator. I really like that idea.

I could write a long wishlist for the perfect cricket game, but for me the priorities are:

- Better edge mechanics, so we don't see silly explosive edges going to the boundary all the time or predictable edges that always go in the same place.

- Better AI for test matches, allowing for more variety in wicket taking and outfield catches

- Swing and seam to vary realistically depending on match conditions

There are also lots of easy things BA could do around improving the number and variety of animations. Some of the animations in DBC 14 were better than the present lot. More elegant battling shots must be a priority - the pull shot can be a thing of beauty, but not in this game....

More licensed grounds would also be good. Okay it might be expensive to get the top county grounds, but how much would it cost to get County outgrounds like Scarborough, Arundel, Chesterfield etc. I suspect league clubs own the rights to these so the costs would be minimum. These smaller grounds would also be great for career mode.

It wold also be good to have more creative content in the customisation of grounds, better backgrounds and a greater variety of pavillion models. The return of retro features in player customisation would be good too (old style whites, 1930s cropped and parted hair, plumper players etc)

From what I can tell, county cricket is under the ecb, but sponsors etc for each team are not which makes things tricky - from a time perspective and financial perspective. Cricket Australia has all its sponsors under one roof (ie: kookaburra, shoe sponsors, fox sports, bat sponsors etc) which is why state cricket is well represented. You can negotiate a one size fits all kind of thing, county cricket would be a bit of a cut snake going all over the shop.

The Hundred is largely all under one roof. ECB and KP Snacks. I would bet the ECB would love to be able to say 'here's the official game of The Hundred' and KP would love to have lots of people over the world seeing their logos for snacks. Making the kits was a nightmare when, at the time, I was desperately trying to steer clear of snack foods.

As a matter of interest, how did the EA wrap up the rights to county grounds all those years ago? They surely didn't approach all 18 counties?

Obviously, Trent Bridge and the Rose Bowl are the big one missing from the UK. It would be good to get the odd iconic ground from other countries in too - like Newlands for example. Even throwing in the odd real life village club ground would be fun.

It wouldn't surprise me if The Hundred was fully licensed and the format's quirks were fully present in the next game. Quite an easy way to market the tournament and format for the ECB and get potentially new fans in. It makes too much sense for them to pass up on such an opportunity.

The problem is that the ECB would probably want a fair amount of cash for The Hundred and there is very little interest in it outside England. In fact, there is not much interest in England and a lot of hostility to it amongst English cricket fans - the [HASHTAG]#OpposetheHundred[/HASHTAG] hashtag has had a lot of support on social media.

Despite what one reads in the cricket magazines, there is apparently some doubt about whether The Hundred will ever go ahead as the sums don't really add up. Given that doubt, I think BA would be unwise to stump up licensing fees. The T20 Blast would be a much safer bet, but even that has a lower media profile than the Big Bash, IPL and PPL etc

If anyone at the ECB is wise enough they'd give BA The Hundred license for nothing. Having a game to promote it and sell alongside would be more beneficial to them (ECB) than anyone. I doubt there are companies knocking down the door to make a game with The Hundred in it. So while the ECB might want to make money from it I can't see how, other than a crappy mobile game, it'd make sense for a developer to take it on. Likewise I couldn't see how KP Snacks would mind.

Yes, I agree. I think English domestic cricket is in such a financially difficult position at the moment that the ECB and counties ought to jump at any opportunity to promote the sport and allow game licensing for a minimal or nominal fee. However, experience suggests that English cricket's desire to monetise every transaction and get immediate reward from every relationship might make this difficult. We can hope though...

I don't know if BA being Australian-based creates particular difficulties for adding English content? I'm guessing from what I've read that BA have done a lot to cultivate contacts in the Australian domestic game - they may not have as much influence in the ECB or with other boards? Or is it partly a practical question? It can't be easy to laser scan and model 18 English county grounds if you are based on the other side of the world....

Money = Time and Resources. Resources, from a sheer manpower point of view. Money, gets you rights very easily. Plus it helps to be one of the biggest developers and publishers in the industry. Plus EA have studios all over the world.

Big Ant, spend time on many games like lacrosse, tennis and cricket. But its just the one team really whereas EA have many teams from different studios under their ownership working on the same game at any given time.

I'd say practical although, the studio they partnered with to help capture the england player's faces and a few of the licence stadiums in cricket 19, might hold a bit more sway next time around as they can now go to the ECB and say look at the work we did here and propose possible expansions to what they can achieve (county cricket for example).

Suggestion and also a question to you lot. It would be nice if different types of ball react differently from one another and in different conditions, i.e. Dukes ball reacting different to a Kookaburra ball. Is this something that is currently in the game or is it something that would be difficult to implement?

I don't see how it would be impossible when pitches have different properties. You'd either just need to alter default setting for England and West Indies or have two ball options (I think they had licenses for both in this game).

Dukes stays harder, swings and seams more and for longer.
Kookaburra swings a bit then turns into a pie after about 20 overs.
