Team Pasty Muncher takes on the world[rFactor & GTR2]

Bailey becomes fourth winner of 2008

Stephen Bailey made up for the slight disappointment of being pipped to pole, for the second time, by winning the first race of the day at Rockingham Motor Speedway. Dan Eaves made it a dream race for the TPM outfit as he completed the teams' first ever 1-2 finish.

Eaves led most of the race after Matt Neal and Tom Onslow-Cole, the VX Racing team-mates, got into eachother on the banking on the opening lap. Neal received only a very light tap from Onslow-Cole, but it was enough to send the former champion round with cold rear tyres. Onslow-Cole couldn't avoid the spinning Vectra and ran in to the back of it. Onslow-Cole then crossed the track infront of Darren Turner, who in couldn't avoid him, and sent the battered Vauxhall into the concrete wall. Neal and Turner managed to continue, but Onslow-Cole would retire.

After the safety car period, Eaves continued to lead from the now second placed Jason Plato and pulled away from the Leon TDI. Meanwhile behind them, Bailey had moved up to 4th after a poor start saw him drop right back down to 7th. He would soon be 3rd however as Tom Chilton ran wide and let the Leon through.

Chilton ended up falling into the scrap behind him, involving Adam Jones, Fabrizio Giovanardi, Colin Turkington, Stephen Jelley, Mat Jackson and Darren Turner. The group would all pounce on a struggling Giovanardi however, and he would end up only just holding off the Motorbase Performance pair of Steven Kane and Rob Collard for 10th and a solitary point. The others however continued to battle amongst themselves in the fight for 4th.

Adam Jones eventually made a break for freedom after getting by Tom Chilton. He then set about catching Jason Plato and was gifted 3rd place at one point after Plato ran wide in turn 4. A lap later though, Jones made exactly the same mistake and fell back down to 5th behind Plato and Chilton. He would go on to finish 5th.

The scrap behind them was still raging, but Stephen Jelley would came through and took a well fought 6th place finish for Team RAC. He was followed home by Mat Jackson, who took advantage of a mistake by Darren Turner to take 7th. Turkington, who at one point was all over the back end of Mat Jackson, had to settle for 9th come the end of the race.

Back to the battle upfront, and Bailey had now caught Jason Plato, and promptly sent a pass up the inside of the 2001 champion at the Deene hairpin. This left the TPM Leon's running 1-2, with Eaves keeping the gap steady at around a second. Eaves however, closing in on his first win since his return to the series made a series of small mistakes, which allowed his team-mate to catch up. With his team-mate right behind him, Eaves made another mistake coming off the banking into Deene which let Bailey by and into a lead he wouldn't lose. Although it was another good result for Eaves on his return, he was understandably disappointed at missing out on victory.

Bailey also secured the fastest lap of the race.

Great first win of the season, and great to do it after dropping to 7th early on. Good to see TPM dominant, which will hopefully lead to a constructors championship...

Great win mate, especially after that horrendous start. Any chance of video's from during the races?

I'll have to have a think about that. The thing with videos is they are time consuming. I was doing them when I started this all off, but it was quite abit of effort to go to for a few three minute clips.

Maybe only do the exciting bit's, e.g. start, crashes and end?

That is an amazing result, well done!!
Also on the topic of videos, if you can't do them, then I wouldn't worry too much because the pictures do seem to tell the story of the race very well.

Bailey doubles up at Rockingham

Stephen Bailey continued his good form around Rockingham by winning race two from Team RAC's Stephen Jelley. Bailey didn't make the most of his pole position after winning race one, and dropped to sixth off the grid. He tried to make up for that however, by taking the inside line into Deene, taking advantage of the other cars slowing down substantially to take 3rd. He would go on to pass Tom Chilton for second, which left TPM running 1-2. Like race one, the pair ran 1-2 for several laps, before Eaves again made a mistake, but this time it was out of the final chicane which let both Bailey and Jelley past into 1st and 2nd and they would go on to finish in those positions. Eaves held onto third

Jelley had made a fantastic start, moving up from 8th on the grid to 3rd by the end of lap one. Colin Turkington Turkington made it a very good race for Team RAC, by working his way up to 4th after starting 9th. The RAC pair were followed home by another pair of BMW's, in the hands of Mat Jackson, who raced Turkington very hard throughout the race, and Steven Kane in the first of the Motorbase Performance cars. Kane was alittle disappointed to end up in 6th after he ran in 4th for most of the race. Rob Collard rounded off a promising race for Motorbase by taking the final point.

It wasn't the best of races for SEAT Sport UK pair, Jason Plato and Darren Turner. Plato, who started second ended up way down in 12th after making several mistakes throughout race two. Darren Turner had worked his way up to 5th at one point, after being 8th on the grid, but a mistake saw him drop to 7th. One positive for the team though is Plato will start on pole for race 3 after finishing 12th.

Mike Jordan had a great race for Team Eurotech, moving up from 14th to finish 8th. 9th was Matt Neal who also had a strong drive after starting a lowly 16th. Matt Neal's result was the only real positive to come from race two for VXR, with Giovanardi, who ran 4th early on, finished down in 13th. Tom Onslow-Cole, who had to start from the back for race two, worked his way up to 15th by the end, but still no points.

After having a strong weekend at Brands Hatch, Gordon Shedden hasn't had such a good time here and failed to finish the race after running into the wall on the exit of Tarzan. Martyn Bell made the same mistake and will join Shedden at the back of the grid for race three.

Plato wins race three at Rockingham

I did a massive write up on this yesterday, but then my computer crashed so I lost the lot and quite frankly, I can't be arsed writing it all out again. :( I'm just going to write out what happened from my point of view, the race results and some pictures.

Proper write ups will return for Silverstone. ;)

Well, my race! It didn't go very well at all. On the first lap, coming off the banking, Turner cut across my nose and hit it, which was enough to make my car unstable and I went through a couple of half spins where the car was literally as 90 degrees and then finally the car snapped into a bigger spin. Somehow I didn't run into the pack and was able to continue.

You can see the tyre marks where I tried to hold the thing together and where it finally snapped into a spin.

On the next lap I was right behind Mike Jordan, Turner and Turkington going into the chicane at the end of the lap. Those three were side by side in the braking zone and there was no way they would make it through the chicane. Turner was the one who was spat out and I couldn't avoid him, which sent him into the wall and out of the race. This brought the safety car out. Not that I got to see the safety car, that was because my suspension broke going round the banking which pitched me into the wall at a little under 120mph. Race over. :(

Championship standings to follow.

Bloody computers hey :p Bad race for yourself, but sounds like it's just bad luck. You can't win 'em all though, but overall a good few races. Looking forward to the race at Silverstone now :)

Not a good race for you. Can drivers sustain injuries in-game as your accident could definetly have been one that caused one?

Great work mate, but bad luck losing your update. It has happened to me countless times :(

Great work mate. Nice to see you leading the Drivers Championship and Team PM to be doing so well in the constructors. Hopefully you can do well at Silverstone :)
