Tech Support

Wonder when Mahmoud Ahmadinejad discovered not all is well with his nuclear plant during the Stuxnet infection if he phoned customer support in India and Raj from tech support asked him if his Nuclear Reactor was plugged in?

Nah not really, I'd put them near upper end i3s

How are AMD quad-core processors? Is it nearly same as c-i5?

An AMD Quad-Core processor will be faster than a i5 in a very few situations. Multitasking suits a quad, but with web browsing you won't notice the difference.

For general use, the most important speed factor is the storage because this affects boot and application launch times. An SSD upgrade would have a transformative impact on your computer but it's an expensive upgrade.

Personal opinion: If you are buying one, better prefer i5.

half the i5 range are quad cores anyway, the others have multi-threading

I am looking buy a good zipper. Can I have some recommendations? I am currently thinking to buy winzip but a little research over the internet tells me 7zip is better and then I can see a lot of people (in show your desktop thread) having KGB archiver installed in their computers. So my question is which one is the best of the lot overall? Winrar, Winzip, KGB, 7zip or is there any other archiver that is better than the named ones?

Does it unpack the .rar, .zip and other popular files? Having a good compression software is of no use if the popular extensions cannot be archived.

Why do you want to buy? 7-Zip is very good at everything it does, and it is free. You can choose your compression levels, and I've always got excellent results with 7-Zip.

If its is free, it will be great! Who wants to give 30 bucks if something similar is available no charge? All I want is a compressing software which works great with majority of formats. .rar is all over the internet and is popular for offline file sharing as well you know and if I am not mistaken, 7zip supports only unpacking of rar files, am I correct? I think I should get it. Was seriously thinking about buying a $30 Winzip Pro 17.5. Thanks for your advice.

Unless you specifically need to create rar files, 7 zip is likely to serve all your needs.
It can even extract from some exe and iso.

Perfect! I will use winrar and 7zip side by side in that case. One correction from my previous post. Winzip Pro 17.5 costs $50. The one I was talking about is Winzip which costs a shade under $30 but you don't get all the unwanted features of the $50 pro pack with it. :p
