Tendulkar Retires from ODIs

Hmmm..........Very good Sachin!because he has earned a lot of respect in these golden years and losing it does not make any sense.....Cheers.

For a guy who was accused to be 'obsessed with stats', Tendulkar retires one short of 50 centuries and 4 short of 100 half centuries, in ODI cricket. Wake up people! Just wake up..... We still have 2+ more years to go for the 2015 World Cup. Tendulkar could have very well played atleast half a year of ODI cricket and could have amassed those records too. His ODI form infact has been pretty good. His last ODI innings was a half century in the Asia Cup that won India the game (along with Kohli's blitzkrieg 183).

I wish he had retired in tests and continued for atleast a year into ODI's. But he did the opposite because the team needs him more in tests than in ODI's. If that was not selfless, WHAT THE HECK ELSE IS???

Tendulkar was the reason I started watching cricket. Him retiring from ODIs is a really emotional moment for me, because the majority of the cricket I've watched is ODIs. If it wasn't for him, I doubt I would've developed so much interest in cricket as a sport.

I've had the honor of seeing him play live for India three times and witnessing one of his classic test centuries against Sri Lanka at the Kotla. Let me tell you, he looks a completely different batsmen live than what we see of him on the television. Much more composed, much more solid, yet aggressive at the same time. Like he's got it all.

I was just looking at his stats year by year, and was amazed to see that he was at his best in the years 2009-2012 with an average of over 50 and a strike rate going as high as the 90s. Yet we complained that he hasn't been performing!

Sad that he's calling it a day from off the field. I would have loved to see him play for the one last time in ODIs. The least he deserved was a grand farewell for his contributions to the Indian cricket in the one day format of the game.

It is indeed an end of an era for me. An era of nothing, but brilliance!

Here is another way you can look at it, Tendulkar retired from ODI to keep down the choir that were calling for him to be dropped from test cricket, yes he retired on top in ODI, whereas he wants to retire on top in test cricket and is possibly eyeing the next 6 tests to make 200 career tests.

Just saying it could be a possibility!

Agree with you. He is my hero. Will remember him forever. 99% of my cricket focus now diverted to test matches. He is a legend and no one can match him.
