Rohit Sharma during the Pre-Match Conference:

Pujji had a mild concussion during a nets session couple of days back and is currently under the supervision with the physios. We don't want to risk anything and hence Jaiswal will open the innings for this match alongside myself, while Gill will come to bat at number three. Shami also comes in the mix accessing the pitch conditions in place. We know Axar is coming off a great game, however we need to take this on a match-by-match basis and we collectively agreed on that this is the best combination for us going into this game.

Will wait 24 more hours for @Disharies to post lineups and thoughts on the matches.

Just caught up to this since I assumed we would have lost anyway against India, was a pleasant surprise to see a draw. Chandimal was the only miss in the batting department. Fantastic work @WutUpMahGlipGlops for running the tournament so far and I hope it ends on a bang.

The future idea of it being more similar to baseball’s format also sounds good.

3 more hours and if I do not get @Disharies 's lineup, we shall have our semi-finals.

Brilliant 113 from Daryl Mitchell meant New Zealand posted a decent first inning score but did not run away with it thanks to Cornwall's fantastic 6 wicket hall. West Indies like all their matches started as under dogs and are hoping to win this to get to a final that would boost their confidence tremendously.

Cornwalls brilliant all round show along with Joshua's continued run of form got West Indies really close to getting a lead in the first inning but brilliant nerve recking bowling from Southee and Wagner saw New Zealand survive first inning lead by the slightest of margin of 2 runs. West Indies will be heart broken not able to secure a lead after a brilliant 8th wicket partnership of 115 runs.

Chanderpaul's brilliant effort goes in vain as West Indies draw with New Zealand and get eliminated on the slightest of margin. They did exceptionally well to chase this down and get an outright winner but the first inning 2 run lead for New Zealand meant they would go into yet another finals for a world championship tournament.

West Indies should be proud of them seeing how far they reached. New Zealand win and qualify for the finals.

Indian batting order put on a slow but sensational 425 runs on board thanks to contributions from almost everyone but most notably half centuries from Jaiswal, Gill, Rahane, Jadeja. Veterans Broad and Anderson as usual troubled the Indian batting the most by picking up 8 wickets amongst them. Scoring 425 meant, England will have to bat out of their skin to win this by 1st inning lead but if any team is capable is this English side.

England completely succumbed to the pressure of the first inning total and the format. On a pitch where 4 Indian players scored half centuries, England's best could reach 48 runs each in Joe Root and Harry Brook. Jadeja's all round performance continued and him with Siraj ended English innings on 192 and now have a follow on.

What a truly sensational comeback but is it too late? After Duckett and Crawley put up a 50 run opening partnership, England saw a collapse and went from 54/1 to 89/5. This is when captain Stokes and keep Foakes put up a solid 137 run partnership battling out 56 overs. Stokes departed on a well made 52 runs and Foakes kept batting and scored a brilliant century. His partnership with Wood and Woakes meant India would bat again and would be chasing 101 runs. If only they would have batted better in first inning, the scenario would be different. Sirja once again troubled the English batsman and picked up 3 wickets with Shami cleaning the tail up quickly.

Man of the match: Ravindra Jadeja

That's rough. Wouldn't have expected Jadeja and Ashwin to turn up with the figures like that on a flat deck, let alone for us to fold over like we did. Our bowling fell expectedly flat, but our batting should've really done better. Nevertheless, cricket is, after all, the great equalizer. It just didn't turn out to be our day.

Best of luck to both teams for the final! :cheers

Finals

:nz: (@Pinch hitter) vs : :ind: (@Verified Enigma)

What a semi-final round. West Indies somehow continued to dominate and be competitive in the third match in a row for them and New Zealand barely scraped by. India on the other side hand a dominant victory thanks to a top and middle order collapse in both English innings.

Now it is time for the mega showdown. India the second ranked team will take on New Zealand who last time won against India in the WTC finals. Both side share a history where New Zealand always has had upper hand, what will it be this time around? Will New Zealand continue to dominate the important matches or does India have one last x factor in them and win this?

We will play this match at the newly created beautiful Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas. It will be super hot and looks like a good batting surface with a little patches there for bowlers. To add spice to this, the pitch will be decided by Cricsim as I will set it to RANDOM.

@Pinch hitter @Verified Enigma please post your XI. Good luck!
