Test Cricket tweak

Auwais, just open the .cfg file using notepad and make the changes.

really good work mate!!!,

TestMatch in Dusty track - Ind(vs)Aus(aus won toss and elected to bat)

Aus bat 1st and currently @ 98/1 (27 ove)... Hayden 48*..., ponting 10*(8 balls),

Will have to bowl a lot of spin stuff from both kumble and harbhajan, itching to add one more spinner may be in next match...(coz they just slam fast bowlers all around and spinners study the ship, Onetime R.R around 4.5+/ove),

Nicework mate...

Cheers Boss, its nice to have some feedback whether good or bad. Lest it helps in further tweaking if needed, looks like it doesnt need any given the realistic scores both on damp and dusty pitch. It will really help if other using the patch can drop a line if playing on any other pitch. Thanks again mate, do keep me posted on the scores and also when you bat.

Anytime, Auwais its not that everyone needs know to edit anyway. Its a pity that there isnt a cricket game for PC which can be bought off the shelf and play without tweaking.

I have packaged the setting files for Bowling and batting for Test cricket. Have a go at it and let me know if anything. The install package also will create desktop shortcuts for Batting and bowing. Each time you want to bat or bowl run attached respective file.

Had to post again for Batting, forgot to mention make sure you double check the install directory as the software used for this packaging seem to add its own directory name at the end of install folder. Also I have defaulted the install directory to c:\program files\EA Sports\Cricket2002, make sure you always point at cricket2002 directory for proper installation. Post installation run the Test Cricket Batting (if batting) or Test Cricket Bowling (if bowling) to play the game.

Update Ravi...
The cpu had a major collapse since my last post from 60/2 to 101 all out . All wickets fell to edges to slip/keeper. I've put it down to favourable bowling conditions (damp/overcast ;) ), and the fact that it's Zimbabwe I'm playing against!.
Batting is a real test of timing. Difficult at first to time and score, but I'm slowly getting more used to it. Good stuff though :) .
PS Thanks for those install files...will make life easier. Do they install the fields as well?

Thanks for the update Jonah, it does install the fields as well. I have to say I am not good at field settings they might not really do the job. Hopefully the Zimbos come back strongly the second time around. I have made the lower order a little brittle going by the current test teams lack of true all rounders down the order(but for the OZ and the Kiwis). I have tried playing against the Indians on a normal pitch they twice posted high 300 scores in one test match, I am right now struggling at 78/4 on the last day. Hopefully the low score was one off or put it down to ideal bowling conditions ;) Also with batting, I have set the shots to have more edges than the defense. This is just to make sure you dont play too many shots, I did update the saf files with the tweak you suggested unfortunately it doesnt form part of the above download. Will post a new file very soon.

Nice touch making the lower order weaker Ravi. That may explain the collapse on that wicket. I've often wondered if the lower order could be weakened to make it more realistic. Nice one B) .

Sorry Sukku, I am a bit lost. What did you try to convey in your above post?

Jonah wrote to me a while ago with the issue he had with the desktop icon. The following was what I replied, apologies Jonah just a bit lazy to type it all over again hence reproducing what I wrote to you.

Ravi, the installer doesn't seem to be working. Nothing happens when I click the
desktop icon, even though the files have installed in the right directory.
Also, I've tried uninstalling the files to a seperate folder to manually install
them, but there's no seperate files for cpu and humans, or do you use just the
one set now?
Also with the installer, if I amend the fields, will I have to amend them every
time I use the installer to install the bat/bowl files etc?
Thanx for your help :-).

Mike, it happenned to me too. For some reason the desktop icon pointing to bat.exe and bowl.exe isnt working. Use either bat.exe or bowl.exe depending on whether you are batting or bowling. The files for cpu and human are identical in name although the values in it are fairly different. I will try to fix the desktop icon issue meanwhile if you can compare the files for cpu and human you should see the difference (you can try comparing u_hard.cfg or swpaddle.saf. You can fix the desktop icon issue by pointing the batting and bowling icons to bat.exe and bowl.exe respectively. I have also come up with the ODI files although I know Zim has done a very good job on that one. Its just that I wanted the CPU to  constantly pick the gaps at times prompting us to either change the field or mix deliveries. I am looking forward to hosting these files somewhere so that I will not have to upload them seperately in the forum. With the ODI settings I have tweaked the CPU batting to be severe on anything on and around leg, short or too full. Unfortunately the Paddle sweep will be in action when an yorker is bowled. I will write to you once I have uploaded it to a host. Hope this sorts the issue out.

I know folks, I might be frustrating you guys by coming up with yet another gameplay patch for ODI. But its just that we needed the CPU to play yorkers quite aggressively most of the times. I have come up with a patch which will most of the times send the ball crashing to the fence, at times the ball thuds on the pad when bowled outside the line of the stumps and a very faint chance of getting the CPU batsman with this ball. What I have tried to do is still give the option of bowling of the yorker but not knowing its affect. Appox 80% of times it can go for runs, 15% time a dot ball, probably 1-5% of getting a wicket. Imagine when a single ball remains and four needs to be scored, will you go for a yorker(I am sure the game isnt smart enough and it probably will defend the last ball). Alongwith the yorker patch, the original shots and the directions of shots are preserved with. The CPU has been made to have a go at anything full or short and also hit few over the infield. There will be wickets here and there or can also be a collapse rarely but am sure it will post good scores and will play through the 50 overs most of the times. I am not looking forward to releasing this patch here in the forum or to all to start with, I need a couple of willing testers who can send me a feedback or two to make sure I am not promising a bit too much. This is to ensure the patch doesnt behave differently on different pitches. If at all this patch does satisfy couple others I will send it to the moderator to host this patch.

P.S : I am sending this patch to you right away Jonah, am sure you have no time to test this for now given your unfinished test match.

Thanks Ravi, I'll try it as soon as I can.
In the Test I'm playing I've managed to struggle to 159/9 (quite a recovery from 51/6  ! ). I've got more used to batting now though, it's that cpu yorker that keeps getting me! . No edges early in my innings, but the lower order have got a few, which luckily have fallen short of the slips (one went between 2nd/3rd slip). I'm on day 2 and have used Shailesh's GamTweak to change the wicket to Green, so it'll be interesting to see how the cpu handles that when it bats it's 2nd inns.
I'll keep you posted.

Here is a tip, take a 2 legs(middle & leg) guard and try to block all the yorkers. It will be very tempting to flick off the pads the ones on the stumps with this guard but make sure there is no short leg in place. Also the game is tweaked to edge more off the shots than blocking. Good luck.
