Test Cricket tweak

NZ just had a hurricane come in the form of Ponting  and swept away all that got in its way, this is from the game I am playing right now against Aus on a dry pitch. I have not really seen better placement or run scoring without having to hit over the infield in Cricket 2002. Ponting absolutely massacred my bowling skills in the first 15-20 overs. Thanks to Jonah's  suggestion of playing on in Sq Cut shot, Ponting played one on to his stumps to give the breakthrough. That was the first false shot Ponting played. Aus were 141/2 after 22 overs :o , it took one heck of bowling changes, change of pace, field setting to eventually restrict it to 289/9  off 50 overs. Yet again Bond :sw: came to NZ rescue in the death, once Bond's figues read 6-0-42-0. Vettori was good to start with but I bowled one of his overs in the death(49th) to test if CPU gets out stumped every other ball. It did happen but only once :( , I gave away 17 runs off the 49th over. I thought Aus will end up scoring anywhere between 350-380 but thanks to the fall of wickets every now and then, the newer batsmen could not often middle the ball. In the end it was a true test of skills and patience to bowl on this wicket to the World Champs and I have to say as the Kiwis do to OZs every now and then, I struck one up to them :fyou: . Now on to the run chase, I think I can chase this if couple of the top order batters turn up in good form fingers crossed.

There were only couple of edges, one carried to the keeper and another headed towards the slip but I had no slip then(45th over).

Thnx Ravi, however this weekend I will not be able to test as I am going out of station.I will return on Tuesday and Wednesday my school starts  .And 1 mth left for my exams , but still I will test it when I find time
:D

Thanks

Jonah, Amber, Shailesh & Mani.

There is absolutely no hurry testing the Test Cricket config files, you guys can just post the scores if at all get a chance to play the Test Match. It doesnt have to be within a week, fortnight or a month and am in no hurry to get the Test Match settings done right away. Thanks for offering to test these anyway.

I scored 294 on a damp wicket against England with Sachin and Sehwag both getting centuries and were not out till 45th over. You were right Ravi, after these 2 got out the other batsmen were not able to hit straight away which resulted in loss of total 5 wickets.
Now to my bowling.England are 58/4 after 13 overs.1 wicket was edged to slip and the rest 3 were run outs :o

So , Ravi you have to really sort this problem out :)

Het amber, no wonder England are struggling...you've got 4 guys in there who've retired from ODI's:blink: !! Only joking, that's a great total you posted there...this'll take a hell of a comeback from the cpu to make a game of this.

Ravi, well done on your fightback. Restricting Oz to 289/9 after the start they got is a great effort. Good luck in your run chase.

In my game I (Eng) made 225/8 v SA. Solanki got 102 B) , but his was the only decent score. The crucial over was the 47th, when Dawson bowled a 3 wicket maiden :o (well, one was a run out), including Solanki. SA put a lid on the scoring after that. In reply, they're 36/2 (6 overs). Smith got off to a flyer, then was caught at gulley , Kallis bowled by Goughie for 4 in the same over. Can I restrict this aggressive SA side? Unfortunately I forgot to take a screenie of my scorecard  .

Some interesting reading...here's a comparison of my scores in the last 2 games I've played; I've batted first in both...

v Zimbabwe v SA
15 overs 64/1 59/1
20 overs 81/1 87/1
25 overs 100/2 110/2
30 overs 131/2 127/4
35 overs 153/2 150/5
40 overs 177/3 178/5
45 overs 205/4 199/5
50 overs 237/5 225/8

They're both pretty even, although it's obvious I'm struggling to better 5rpo (that's my aim!). Good stuff Ravi :) ...

Hey crick4life, i'd really like to test your files as well. I'm on 4 weeks holiday at the moment and am ready and willing to play games and post up the stats... odi's and tests. My email is [email protected]

thanks mate

Thank,s Kiwi for choosing me amidst your testers and I will try to provide you precise details that how this patch works. My id is:

[email protected]

Waiting for your latest files in anticipation.

I didn't quite do it, SA winning by 2 wickets in the 39th over. I took regular wickets, but good knocks by Gibbs, Dippenaar, Pollock and Hall got SA there, although a fantastic diving catch by Solanki at point to dismiss Hall in the 37th over almost set the cat amongst the pigeons :) .
I think I needed another 25-30 runs to maybe have given me a chance to get them all out. Very enjoyable match though.
If I see as close a match tomorrow at The Oval I'll be happy :) ...

Unlucky there again Jonah, still you have had good share of close games to keep you interested.

Our other new tests Vetts, Hero and Sukku have all been sent the latest files alongwith instructions on how to install it. Make sure you guys backup your old files(save configs and saf directory in particular). If by any chance these files have hugely altered the gameplay from the previous one, please let me know we can resotre it with the previous version. I have tried to sort the run out issues in the current version, I suppose there will still be a run out or two in a game but shouldnt be one too many.

Shaliesh, is the bowling cursor issue sorted out yet?

Kiwi,

I received odi files from you. Thanks for sharing it but no saf or config files are included for newbie testers. Can we use any one?Kindly send those who have been made by you.

The install file sent to you includes the configs as well as saf files. You just need to run those install files as suggested in the email and you will be ready to go.

Also make sure the install directory is indeed where you have installed Cricket 2002. If the game was not installed in c:\Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket 2002 and if you choose the directory using the select button double check the directory again as the installer seems to add its only directory name at the end of the directory choosen by you.

Thanx,

I have installed it.My game is installed on d:\ cricket 2002 folder but after installing it there are 2 more folder now with name of
cricket 2002 ODI bowling setup and cricket 2002 odi cricket batting setup which entails different fields saf and shots etc.I want to ask when whether bowling or batting I need to overwrite it according to situation in the game directory or it will work usually without overwriting.I have pre installed the config so If I am batting should I copy batting data and wheb bowl same this as it was in your last test patch. Thanks in advance.

This is pretty much what I was meaning in my above post. Delete the two new folders and rerun the install and make sure the install patch reads only d:\cricket 2002 and not d:\ cricket 2002\ODI cricket batting setup or d:\ cricket 2002\ODI cricket bowling setup. The install path seems to also add ODI cricket batting/bowling setup if the default install is not c:\Program Files\EA Sports........

You dont really need to do any copy paste to get the patch working. If you do as I have mentioned above you will not need to overwrite anything, it does on its own. Ofcourse, when asked by the installer if you want to overwrite the files you will ceratinly need to choose Overwrite All.

Well I beat the comptuer quite badly. I was pak vs south africa, won the toss and elected to bat on a hard pitch. I was 222/9 after 50 overs and bowled out south africa for 93 runs giving me a victory by 122 runs.

There are too many LBWs being given by the umpire. I had 5 against SA, all thanks to some imppecable bowling by Razzaq who bowled 6 overs 3 maidens 6 runs and 5 wickets :o

I also think the straight drive needs a little more tweaking :D

Ravi I sent you an email last week in regards to getting the latest files, still havent gotten them

Besides a few things mentioned above things are looking good

The files you are using are fairly old ones and am not surprised the amount of LBWs you got there. Will send you the latest ones and you can have a go at it.

Check your mail mate, its sent now.
