Test Cricket tweak

Hi Ravi and all other friends

This is my first post at this forum. I m Qadeer, Masters in IT and working as Network Administrator. I m the one who is creator of "Benaud Pakistan Commentry Update" patch which is already been posted at cricket2002.tk. Hope those of u who have used that commentry patch would have liked my work as it was my first work and first post ever.

After my Introduction, I would like to appreciate Ravi's work as he is a deserving one. I used ODI_BATTING exe and found those changes really superb. It is right according to the way i wanted to play shots in C2002 and is very realistic. Gr8 work Ravi.

I have few requests now. When we play sweep shot VERY EARLY, it goes towards long-on position which is not realistic to me that a sweep shot is reaching towards straight or long-on boundry. You can change this angle to square-leg within the circle. I mean a miss-timed sweep short should not have that power like a timed-sweep short and should be within the circle on leg side for not more than a single run.

One more thing is, I miss-timed a sweep shot once and it went towards THIRD-MAN region on the off for 3 runs. I know in real cricket a miss-timed short can produce a boundry, but I never saw a miss-timed sweep shot going towards third-man and reaching to boundry. You can keep all the miss-timed sweep shots within the circle. Keep it to leg-side is recommended but it may go towards slip, gully, point in some cases, but be sure the power of shot is not like a timed-shot. Thats all. I will tell u about few more as my game goes on.

Well, your "timed-sweep shot" is really very realistic playing around the legs and going through wicket keeper to deep fine leg. Thats very real

Hope u will consider my requests and if u make any changes to sweep shot file then plz upload it here or send me to [email protected].

Thanx.

Well Ravi , I think you can send me the latest batting files which I am lacking as I am finding it too easy to bat on normal and hard pitches . Please try to send it my compressing it.Thanks

Ravi,

Looking good so far though it was hard work on a hard wicket for Indian bowlers as NZ reached 277/5 at the end of day 1. 50s to McMillan and Cairns (n.o.). 2 lbws (1 lucky for me), 1 stump and 2 caught, edges were very rare and no one was bowled <_< . Still hoping to restrict around 400, day 2 providing a green pitch.

Ravi,

different story on day2, green wicket..India bowled out kiwis for 310, Harbhajan taking 5/44, Zaheer 2/69, Mishra 2/49. Cairns 71 the top scorer. Compared to hard pitch there were lot more edges on green. Let's see how I do when batting..

I see you are pitch fixing and that against Kiwis, looks like the things to come in the forthcoming series ;) . If I were India I will have you as a curator :D . I could not complete the 1st test when in the 2nd innings I was 70/2 at the end of day 3 trailing by around 280+ runs. I saved a SA/ENG test match over the saved Ind/NZ game and had to forgo the test; it certainly saved the embarrassment for me really.

Good on you for posting the feedback Smqadeer and thanks for contributing to render the patch near perfect. I dont see any problems in making those changes mentioned above by you. Will shortly make those changes and post it here.

Cheers.

that's the only way to get variable pitch, weather :P and don't forget it was Harbhajan who took max wickets..now that'd be more likely in the real life series :D

Ravi , I have'nt recieved the batting files as I requested. Please send it

Hi all, back after a break from the game and a holiday. Hope you're all well :) .
I've been trying to catch up on all that's been going on over the last 3 weeks or so, but I just gave up and downloaded the last set of Test files you uploaded Ravi, and have started a game. Here's the progress so far...
England (me) v SA (cpu), day one conditions - hard wicket, sunny and hot.
SA won the toss and elected to bat, but must've soon regretted the decision as both openers were gone after just 3 overs with 8 on the board (Smith run out for 0, Gibbs edging to 1st slip). Kirsten dug in, but when Kallis went for 15, and Rudolph for 22 (the old lbw, left hander bug!), the writing was on the wall for SA. Kirsten eventually went for 22 after 139 balls , with only a 9th wicket partnership of 50 between Hall and Adams helping SA to 168 all out, with only 1 over of the day remaining. Pick of the England bowlers was Kirtley (5-31).
Day two conditions remain as day one, and SA have struck early, with Trescothick going in typical fashion, wafting at one outside off from Pollock and edging to Kallis at slip. England currently 12/1 after 5 overs. I'll update at the end of each days play :) ...

Ravi, I've notced one bug with these files (which you may already know about). Occasionally, the cpu plays the late cut and the ball goes through mid-wicket :o . Looks a little odd :) . Cheers...

Hey Jonah, how are you mate? Good to see you back and you look in very good bowling form  ; maybe the forced rest helped you :P . I suppose you have the latest test cricket files, the values seem to have struck the right combination.

What latecut shot are you refering to, front foot or the backfoot? Will fix it in the next update.

Hi Ravi, hope you're keeping well. I see you're still working your a** off on the files; good stuff :) .
Yes, the rest has invigorated my bowlers, who bowled a good line/length, and were backed up by some great slip/gulley catches. Let's see if the batters can do as well ;) .
The shot was the front foot late cut. It was only played twice in 70 odd overs, within two overs of eachother, strangely enough  .

168 all out on a hard wicket  you should be made England's bowling coach for next test :D

LOL S :D . Just got quite a few edges, 1 lbw and 1 run out. One of those innings I guess :) ...
Btw, England's innings is progressing nicely. After the early loss of Tres, Vaughan and Butcher have pushed on nicely to 125/1, (Vaughan reached his half century) midway through the afternoon session on day 2. Butcher just a had mammoth let off. Caught at 2nd slip, two balls later the game froze and I couldn't get out of it. The only way was to shut down my pc and restart from my last saved point, the over before Butcher was out :D ! I'll put it down as a caught off a no-ball  ...
