Test Match under Lights

ont think that day-night test matches would be an option................but im all for using floodlights because players come off if theres a cloud over the ground these days.......Just use the floodlights so that you can get 90 overs in a day and then everybodys happy

The umpires can choose to use floodlights to complete the required overs, if the facility is available. There are two rules though: the floodlights cannot be switched off once they are switched on, and play can be extended a maximum of half-an-hour after scheduled close. The second one is a new rule, that is being used to encourage captains to improve their over-rate or lose out in overs.

I know that....but players still go off for bad light even when the floodlights are on!!!!For the players to go off, the light must be deemed as DANGEROUS, i cant see how the light can be dangerous when the floodlights are on.

I dont like that play can only be extened for half an hour.........the players should be punished for slow over rates and i see it as, if their taking their time, their going to be in the feild for 3 hours or so in the last session. Is I've seen before, when this scenario occurs the batting side usually prospers and the runs come thick and fast....

Now if that isnt a punishment for slow over artes, i dont know what is!!!!!

I personally don't like the 30 minute rule either, but I can understand its implementation. What if you were 120/8 and there was slow over-rate thus you needed to stay out even longer. I don't think you'd exactly be eager to bat out for another hour if you can simply go in.

And with the lights, conditions aren't exactly as good as natural lights. The color of the ball also makes a difference. And since the batsmen are consulted anyway, most of the time they are not willing to bat longer.
