Story Test Series: Bedford vs Berwick

Ian- I'm happy to announce that the man of the match is Brad Gartrell, for two magnificent centuries, and present this cheque for $5000 from sponsors Microsquiz.
Brad- Thank you Ian
Ian- A great game for you personally, but a disappointing result?
Brad- Yes, I'm very disappointed with the lack of support from the rest of the lineup, but full credit to Berwick, they played extremely well and deserved to win in the end.
Ian- Are you likely to be making any changes for the next game?
Brad- Well, considering we've got a squad of 11, that's not really likely to happen- officially however, we're keeping faith in our players ability to perform
Ian- Thank you for your time
Brad- That's quite all right, remember that I just got a $5000 cheque for this one minute conversation

Ian- Now I have the winning captain with me, Brett Hogan. Congratulations on a good win.
Brett- Thanks, we're very pleased with the performances of our players throughout the match
Ian- Was the dressing room feeling a bit anxious after the two early breakthroughs by Dobson in the second innings?
Brett- I think it's normal to be a little concerned when someone's bowling as well as he was, but we were always confident in the ability of our batting lineup to chase down 230, and that's how it turned out.
Ian- Now we're flying back to Australia for the second match, is there likely to be any changes to accomodate the change back to your home turf?
Brett- No, I don't think that we'll be looking to fiddle around with a winning formula too much.
Ian- Thanks for your time

Conditions:

Pitch- Dry
Weather- Overcast
Temperature- Warm

Ritchie- It?s a lovely day here in Melbourne, and great conditions for the second Test match. The pitch is a little drier than what we normally expect here, and can be expected to help out the spinners throughout the game, while fast bowlers won?t find a great amount of assistance. The team winning the toss should be looking to bat while conditions are at their best, and to use their spinners to great advantage in the fourth innings.

Ian- Well the two captains are out here with me for the toss, Brad you'll call.
*Flips coin*

Brad Gartrell- Tails
Ian- Tails it is
Brad- We?ll have a bat
Ian- Congratulations, not a difficult decision?
Brad- No, I feel that the pitch looks magnificent right now and that having a bat before it begins to break up will be a significant advantage.
Ian- Brett, disappointed to be having a bowl?
Brett- No, not particularly, I?ll back our bowling attack to give the opposition some trouble in any conditions.
Ian- So there you have it, Bedford winning the toss and electing to bat.

Bedford won the toss and elected to bat

Bedford: 2/70 (27 overs) (Harrison 31*, Whittle 16*, Busary 2/12)

Ritchie: The Berwick bowlers have dominated this session, with all of the Bedford batsmen having to work extremely hard for their runs and resulting in a run rate of around two and a half an over. After 2 early wickets Harrison and Whittle have consolidated well, managing to prevent further loss, and building a reasonably solid platform for the brittle middle order to build on. Bedford will be looking to up the tempo in the second session, and get on top of the bowling for the first time in the game.
