Welcome, to the new show in Star Cricket, in which you can see how actually the teams (qualified to CLT20) qualified for Champions League. To start off with, lets discuss a bit about "CENTRAL DISTRICTS STAGS".

The team, which won the HRV Cup 2009-10 by beating Auckland Aces consists of some star players like Ross Taylor, Jacob Oram, Jamie How. Some players like Brendon Diamanti, Peter Ingram give some guest appearance in New Zealand National Team, which makes Central Stags look bit with international Experience. For the Champions League T20, Jacob Oram will be leading the team. He believes that young players of all the teams have a golden platform to come into limelight.

They started their HRV Cup Campaign with a 19 run victory against Wellington on 3rd January. Peter Ingram and Ross Taylor came up with 70 and 47 respectively, which took the team score to 208. Bowlers then controlled the match which helped in Central Districts Stags to register their first victory. Then, they held nerve to register their second victory, with possible the lowest margin, 1 run against Otago Volts on 6th of January, 2010, in which Jacob Oram delivered a T20 Spell of his life time (5-14), breaking the middle order of Otago. They registered yet another victory against Northen Districts Knights, where Taylor's 53 helped in getting to 184. Their bowlers took the change of navigating the ship to victorious end.

After three consecutive wins, Central registered their first loss against Auckland. Except Matthew Sinclair, no one else performed with bat, which meant that they were reduced to 155 on a pure batting surface. Auckland chased the target easily, which made Central register their first lose. They got back into form by two back to back wins against Canterbury. They lost yet another match to Auckland, with lowest margin, 1 run. They continued their losing form by losing a rain effected match to Wellington. They won a game against Otago, trying to end their losing streak. They played against Norther Districts Knights in their final group stage game, which they won to step into Final with confidence.

In the final, Ross Taylor, Peter Ingram and Kieran Barnett performed with the bat, scoring 80 (30), 54(36) and 49 (28) respectively, which meant that they posted a big total of 206. Then, their bowlers took up the duty of navigating the ship to the winning end, which meant that they qualified for the Champions League.

great start, i was wondering where the update about the stags was, but without taylor i dont see them going far in the tournament.

Good to see Ross Taylor playing for his home team, compared with the BS that went down in RL.
Interesting to see Oram captaining them, instead of How. :spy

Nice start to the story Binnu. Your writing has improved a lot from your previous stories. Presentation is better as well.

Would be interesting to see which team wins CLt20. Central Stags have a really good side and they may win the tournament as well.

Keep it up Binnu. :)

excellent writing mate. great upgrades as far as now. I'll be looking forward from next upgardes. :)

Welcome to the second episode of the new program, "Road to ACL T20", in which we'll discuss about the team, their struggle to make it into the Champions League T20. Now, the team which we're going to discuss about are "VICTORIA BUSHRANGERS"

The team Victoria is lead by Cameron White, when he's available. But, as he has a deal with Royal Challengers Bangalore to play for them in the Champions League T20, David Hussey will lead the side. David Hussey, who was named captain for the final match of the KFC T20 Bigbash, will lead the Victorian Bushrangers in the Champions League T20, 2010. He said that their team misses the services of their regular captain, Cameron White. "Its a second time we're playing in Champions League, hopefully, we'll be winners this time. Its a golder opportunity for domestic players to play in Protean conditions. They had fair amount of experience on Indian soil last year and I'm sure that our players will perform well at Protean soil", he added. Victoria Bushrangers look strong without their regular captain, Cameron White. Both of their overseas players are not representing Victoria, which makes the team get more "Domestic" look. But Victoria, the 4 times (out of 5) title holder of KFC T20 BigBash looks pretty strong. "Absence of Cameron White, Dwayne Bravo and Ross Taylor made Victoria a competitive team", Harsha Bhogle, the chief ESPN STAR Cricket analyst said. Lets go back to the KFC T20 Big Bash 2009-10 and see how Victoria made it into the Champions League.

The Victorian Bushrangers' Campaign started off with a much tensed victory in the opening match of KFC T20 Bigbash. Ross Taylor rescued the destroyed batting of Victoria. With Andrew McDonald and Dwayne Bravo hitting the balls all round the park, Victoria came up to a decent total of 157 in 20 overs. The rain stopped the play for about 20 minutes, which meant that the target for Queensland Bulls was 125 in 16 overs. The bowlers held their nerve till the end to reduce the Queensland Bulls to 121 and register their opening victory in the tournament. Then thay faced off the defending champions New South Wales, where they won the match with the dumbslog of Dwayne Bravo at the crucial hour. His 18 (8) made them register their second victory. After two consecutive wins, they experienced the Pollardification, which obviously lost them the third match cheaply. Kieron Pollard's 52 (22) and Harris' 48 (33) helped in South Australia Redbacks posting high total of 202. Victoria Bushrangers were bowled out for 111 in 14 overs, as the pressure on Victoria was too much that they lost the wickets. Their rough patch continued at Perth, which means, they lost yet another game to Western Australia Warriors. Victorian bowlers turned out to be Epic Fail in that match, who gave away runs easily and helped Warriors to post 152. Victorians were reduced to 128.

Then, they had a do or die situation against Tasmania to qualify for the preliminary final. Brad Hodge and Aaron Finch blew away Tasmanian Tigers, which made them qualify for the Preliminary Finals. South Australia were already in the finals, with one of Queensland and Victoria to be the another finalist. Queensland, batting first, posted a formidable total of 149. Then, Victoria looked to be out of the tournament for the first six overs. Then entered the man of the match, David Hussey, who just played calm at initial stages. Later on, he blasted off with fours and sixed all round the park, ensuring the Victorian presence in the Champions League T20 for the second consecutive time. They were to face off South Australia in the final, where Aiden Blizzard played an innings which'll be one of the greatest ones in the history of Victoria Bushrangers. His mind blowing 42 (21) just before Victoria were about to end their innings helped Victoria to post a big total, on that pitch. South Australia, getting tensed, lost early wickets. Even little bit of Pollardification din't effect the course of the game. South Australia Redbacks were reduced to 118 in 20 overs.
