Yeah now that exams are over I have time to play it as well...now where did I put my CD? :p

That's an interesting question now. :D Anyways, looking forward to this story again. :)

Chapter 8

What could make this worse?

Wow it's been a while. About three months since I last talked to you guys. Well the same match is still going on, don't ask how. And yes, James is still at the crease (somehow). Probably due to the fact that Vaughan was in with him. So we (Yorkshire) are on 26 having lost 2 wickets against Essex in this County Championship match. And now to the game...

"Jamesssssssssssssssss....Jaaaaaaaaaameeeeeeeesssssssssss...."

"Shut up Mani!"

I was up to my usual antics of annoying everyone again, and James was the victim. So anyway, he ignored me and got ready for the next over. James was facing the first ball against Graham Napier. Napier didn't have a long run up but was surprisingly quick.

Napier tried to trick James with the slower ball to start off with but James waited and flicked the ball away into the gap in the field. Quick running gave us two more runs. Napier went for the slower ball again but it was a yorker this time. He defended the ball nervously, showing no flair whatsoever :p.

James carried on getting these little niggles until the last ball of the over. Napier came in and pitched the ball on middle stump. James attempted to pull the ball away but the ball had a low bounce and went just under the bat. Essex were screaming and you could tell from James' face what was going to happen next. The umpire raised his finger, James was gone.

"James you are so crap."

"Shut up! I got 14. That's pretty good for my first try."

"How is it your first try? It's not as if you've never played cricket before."

"Piss off."

As James took his long, disappointing walk down to the pavilion we gave him as much stick as possible. After all, it was James. The new man in was the wicket keeper. And that wicket keeper just so happened to be Dave. I wasn't really going to piss off Dave, because he was capable of crushing me into a speck.

"James, you are so crap. Now I have to get a century instead."

Dave walked up to the crease with his chest out, head held high and bat in one hand. He looked like he was about batter the hell out of someone with his bat, let's hope it was the ball!

Michael was on strike to start off with for the new over. It was a new over as well. Kaneira was warming up, it looked like he was going to bowl the new over. Yep it was him. Well that wasn't exactly great news for us, someone as good as him bowling to Dave and Michael.

The first ball comes in and it's got a bit of turn on it, and does it hit the pad!!!?! Essex are appealling....NOT OUT!!! Thank goodness for that! If Michael got out, we'd have been in even deeper...

There was a sigh of relief from us all on the edge of the boundary. From the look on his face you could see that Michael thought he was a gonner. Lucky for us he wasn't.

Despite almost getting out, Michael's batting was unfazed. He hit a beautiful cover drive which went all the way to the boundary for four. He was starting to get into the groove.

It was the end of the over and Michael had just defended the ball for no runs. From that I could conclude that Dave was on strike for the next over. That was very a complicated deduction :p.

Indeed..Indeed. A complicated deduction. Hmm..

That sucks mani.

Lol, excellent update, you wizzardd.

Hehe thanks :D. Shame my graphics were bad, been agesssss since I opened up PS and I was just clueless lol.

Well it has been a long ride, 336 posts in this thread, but i've decided to end this story. At its peak I thought that this story was up there with some of the better stories, but other times I thought it was just plain stupid. I finally got to the cricket in the end though. I won Story Of The Month as well, so this story has been very succesful, but I just can't find the will to update this. Unfortunately at the end of this story, the interest pretty much died. I wasn't that bothered about getting comments and I always said that, I just liked to write, but I just can't find the will to write updates for this anymore. I tried to restart this but it didn't work. I've had loads of coursework etc to do so I couldn't update this as much as I wanted to and eventually it just died. I'd like to say thanks to everyone who commented in this story, you've been great encouragement for me to continue this for as long as I did. In particular the likes of Tom, Jaz, Abhas, Shan, FB and I guess GG lol. So yeah, thanks for reading. This story is finished.

So unfortunate for such a well written and descriptive story to end. A great effort Mani. If anytime you want to re-open this thread then please drop a PM to Me or Suren. :)

About time!

:p Nah, been a great (Although ridiculously stupid ;)) story and deserved the SOTM awards it won. Hope to see another story from you in the future Mani.

Yeah this has been a top story. Looking forward to any other stories if you eventually do another one. :)

Yeah mate, shame that you had to stop it. Great story and was extremely funny. And like everyone else i`m looking forward to the next story if you do write another one.

Thanks for that guys :). I am hoping to start a story in the near future once I've got all my coursework done and out of the way, but that will take a while :D.
