West Indies Announce Squad For Tour Of England

The West Indies Cricket Board has today announced the 20-man squad to tour England in May. The usual players, Sarwan, Chanderpaul, Ramdin and Gayle are all included, but the surprising absentee is Darren Powell. The seamer has been left in the Carribean to watch on as his nation plays a test series without him.

The 20-Man squad is as follows:

C. Gayle (c)
D. Ramdin (wk)
D. Bernard
R. Sarwan
S. Chanderpaul
N. Deonarine
D. Bravo
N. Pascal
D.R. Smith
J. Taylor
F. Edwards
K. Pollard
D. Sammy
D.S. Smith
L. Baker
B. Nash
L. Simmons
R. Rampaul
S. Benn
A. Richardson

Very surprised to see Powell left out of the squad. Whether that is a good move or not is to be seen.

Nice start, mate.

England Announce Squad To Face West Indies

Earlier today, the ECB selectors chose their 20-man squad to face the West Indies in the upcoming test series in May. With the first test only a day away, England won't have much preparation time, but seeing as the series is on home soil, they have plenty of experience on the English pitches.

Andrew Strauss is going to be leading the team, and although there are a couple of keepers in the twenty, Tim Ambrose looks like the favourite for the first test, but Matt Prior will be looking to get into the team for the final test match at Chester-le-street. In terms of bowling, England look ok. Shaun Udal, Samit Patel, Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar can all turn the ball, but only two of them at a push will get into the team for the first test. A few surprise call-ups, Shaun Udal and Billy Godleman. Shaun was unable for comment but here is what Billy had to say,
'It's a great honour and surprise to be called up to the England Team, i wasn't expecting it and to be honest, I don't think I'm in a great run of form. Hopefully that will change if I get the chance.'

The 20-Man Squad Is As Follows:

A. Strauss (c)
T. Ambrose (wk)
M. Prior (wk)
O. Shah
K. Pietersen
S. Udal
P. Collingwood
S. Patel
L. Wright
S. Broad
S. Harmison
J. Anderson
R. Sidebottom
A. Cook
B. Godleman
G. Swann
A. Flintoff
R. Bopara
A. Khan
M. Panesar

Very good presentation, mate, massive step taken and it's well written.

Some surprise call ups and some obvious ones so it'll be interesting to see who will perform and who will not.

The Definitive Preview To The First Test

The first test is just around the corner, and it commences the English summer of cricket for 2009, and to give our readers an insight of what we can expect from the first test at Lords.

The first test is just around the corner, and the buzz around the teams is unreal. There is a huge anticipation around both training camps as the series gets underway.

Firstly to the England camp, where Andrew Flintoff has been struggling with what has been described as a reacurrence of an old injury. Whether or not he is fit enought to play the first test is yet to be seen.

Kevin Pietersen has returned from the IPL ready for the test series but he too is struggling with form and things aren't looking good for England's star duo.

He will need to turn things round if he is to bat England to victory.

However in the West Indies camp, it is all smiles.

Ramnaresh Sarwan has already scored two centuries for the tourists against Essex, in one of these, he finished 178 not out. England will have to be careful not to let him get settled at the crease.

However, there is still some arguement surrounding Darren Powells ommision from the team, with several renowned players weighing in the thoughts,
Brian Lara:
I don't think it is a good decision for Darren (Powell) to be left in the Carribean, he is one of the best seamers that the West Indies have seen for quite a long time and for him to be left at home for such a big tour is a poor decision. We have to see it through and see if it is a bad decision or not.

The 1st Test at Lord's starts tomorrow, it is being shown exclusively on Sky Sports

That is a massive improvement from your previous ones. Good luck to it :thumbs Keep it going..

Agree with Suren, this is looking much better. Hopefully England can beat West Indies this time. Realistically. ;)

they will, if i can get my C07 working probably,
i downloaded abbh's modified exe for the first time yesterday and already had line-up editor in my route folder. now when i go to play the game, i get a different team from the team in player editor.

any tips??
please pm to me, i dont want to take up space in this thread

problem solved.

The Toss

EnglandWindies9_304x337.jpg

Match Umpire: 'Head's is the call',

Match Umpire: 'Head's it is,'

Jonathan Agnew: 'So Andrew (Strauss), you've won the toss, what're you going to do'

Andrew Strauss: 'Errrmm, we're gonna have a bat, the pitch looks quite crusty and will crack as the match goes on'

Jonathan Agnew: 'And you've left Monty (Panesar) out'

Andrew Strauss: 'Yes, we've decided to go with Samit (Patel) as he can give a boost to the batting, we've also brought in Ravi (Bopara) at number 3, I've got big hopes for him.'

Jonathan Agnew: 'Okay, good luck'

Andrew Strauss: 'Thanks'

Jonathan Agnew: 'On to you Chris, what would you have done, what are your thoughts?'

Chris Gayle: 'Well, obviously we would've liked to bat, but we will try and get Suli (Benn) on early, and try and get the top order batsman quickly'

Jonathan Agnew: 'And what about Jerome (Taylor), we saw him struggling during the warm-up, is he fine or is he out?'

Chris Gayle: 'No Jerome (Taylor) is fine, he got a ball on the ankle earlier and it swell up a bit, but he's fine and will probably open the bowling'

Jonathan Agnew: 'Okay, looking forward to the day ahead and good luck, back to the studio'

Match update coming soon.

10 Over Update

Score: 25/0
Strauss: 15
Cook: 10

The openers have started strongly and are beginning to build a good innings. Strauss has scored 15 with ease and Cook is on 10, he isn't looking as strong as Strauss but is a good support act for the captain. Bopara is beginning to look restless in the pavilion and is itching to get out into the middle.
However, the West Indies bowlers have already had a change, Baker has come off for Benn, he's looked expensive, 8 runs off 2 overs.

The next 10 overs will be updated soon

20 Overs Gone
Score: 41/2
Cook: 19
Pietersen: 1

Wickets:
Andrew Strauss: b. L.Baker 18
Ravi Bopara: b. L.Baker c. R.Sarwan 1

England lose two wickets in quick succssession, Baker taking both. Strauss was comprehensively beaten by a yorker and Bopara got a bit of a bouncer and nicked it straight to Sarwan at 2nd Slip. Pietersen is now out in the middle and is playing second fiddle to Cook who is on 19.
The tourists have started to pull out an advantage with those two wickets, and will be looking to take the current batsmen quickly. They won't want Cook or Pietersen to settle, as consequences could follow. Gayle seems unfazed at the moment and the deep fielders have had little to do.

Can we get some pics maybe? Great start this is more realistic than your other one.
