who do u think has been the greatest left handed batsman of all time?

Rocklara it looks like that you want everyone to vote for lara that's why big names are missing from your list like Matt Hayden, Anwar, Pollock etc. and Ganguly, Smith are no match for Lara.

Exactly right sunil ojha, stop making these stupid polls. There have been far greater left handed batsmen than the ones in the poll. Stop making polls where Lara is the standout performer of the choices!!!

For once I would have to say that a pommie deserves to be on this list. Its the man that hit a 4 of his first ball he ever faced in Test Cricket..........David Gower, but from the list would go for the one of the best all-rounders ever in Gary Sobers....

PS: Bobby Simpson, if its the former Australian opener u r refering to here, was a Right-Handed batsman!!! (So would like to know who is the one person that voted him as the best left-hander) (His opening partner Bill Lawry was a left-handed)

At last!! Someone has spoken some sense on this thread. It was laughable that Graham bloody Smith was on this list and not Gower...

From what I have seen from the past tapes, he was a textbook perfect batsman and also could play some innovative shots in ODI's, whereas likes of Ganguly and Smith, don't think are anywhere near the class of Gower. Smith hardly hits any runs on the off side through the covers, he drags everything towards mid-wicket.....
Ganguly is superb on the off-side and everyone knows his main weakness, the short ball
I didn't see many weaknesses in Gower's batting (from what I saw anyway).....

He did like to 'fish' a little outside off, from what I remember seeing as a kid, but from all reports he was a real classy batsman.
