i think saeed anwar is all times great left handed batsment not only he hold the most runs in a match but also he hits some awsome shots throught mid on and long on bring the old momries back independence cup he just blasted anil kumble was about to cry 4 sixes in one over. i love saeed if any one think of another player that is better then saeed post it please 194 wow lol

By who is on the list gary Sobers is the best player, but it is a poll for the best batsman so then i will go with Lara

...

gary sobers and brian lara should not even be considered in the league of ganguly and graeme smith. they are great batsmen but nothin' compare to this west indians and now seeing the dramatic dropoff in Ganguly's game, when was the last time he actually made any respectable runs against a world class side, Ganguly shouldn't be there. There are some guys other people are suggesting but I think Saeed Anwar should be included, he holds the record for high runs in an odi inning with 194 but remember he also got out with 4 overs to go. Just imagine if had made that second century DAMN!

I think you mean the other way around!!!!!From that sentence you mean that Ganguly and Smith are much better than Lara and Sobers!!!!

lara only but it is strange that anwar n jayasurya is not in the list

Tough choice between Sobers and Lara. I Guess I will go for Lara.

Rocklara it looks like that you want everyone to vote for lara that's why big names are missing from your list like Matt Hayden, Anwar, Pollock etc. and Ganguly, Smith are no match for Lara.

what ganguly is no match for lara ganguly is propably second only to sachin in odi and light years ahead of lara but in test lara is ahead of ganguly but ganguly is the best timer of a cricket ball as said by geof boycott.don,t say he is no match for lara .

Yeah where is Graeme Pollock, his test average of 60.97 must attest that he is one of the greatest.

man to me a 183 scored without a runner are far far more respectable than a 194 where more than 60% of runs have been ran by a runner. so is a 189(Jayasuriya). I don't know what u were doing two months back, but Ganguly did score some runs in England (not as much as he can)... and yep the cliche is right "public memory reaches as far as the last series..." I am not suggesting that he is the greatest left handed batsman ever...he has far too many flaws for that...but sure he is good enuf to be up there with these fellows...u cannot pooh-pooh away the second highest century maker in ODIs...i feel the same for Graeme Smith and I think had the captaincy not been thrust on him he would have flowered better...

But for me - in this list Lara rocks...he is definitely the best...but Gower and Trumper should have been there too...the latter is revered by aussie oldies perhaps as much as the Don and perhaps Jayasuriya too demands a place up there...

Hmm, true Victor Trumper is a big legend, especially because it's so hard to find any solid records from the time.

lara is the best... no doubt

unconsistant,,, but still the greatest, hayden is amazing plays some powerful drives.... and jayasuria is a pleasure to watch when in good form

As i have mentioned it in my previouse post saeed anwar is a far more better batsman Then ganguly and smith.Perhaps he should have been named in that poll and that is Some how unfair to saeed anwar fan's.The 194 againt's india was the greatest inning of all time.He smashed the ball all over the ground despite not being 100% fit and he Also hit four sixe's againts kumbe' the greatest spinner of india. It is clear to every one That saeed anwar is the best left handed of all time.Making 1000 runs againt's india
Which he made recently in world cup and also not to mention that classy inning of him againt's india in world cup at centurin. The question to be asked is who is the greatest batsman of sub_continent the better choice is sachin tendulkar but for me it has to be Saeed anwar far more better then ganguly, smith, sachin, although i believe that saeed Anwar and brian lara has the same technigue.
Wish you all the best saeed anwar,You are the best.
