In a surprizing, if not downright shocking move, The Indian Warriors announced the signing of all rounder Ramesh Balaji. The 23 year old journeyman has had initial stints with Derbyshire and represented Australia in the international arena. He is currently playing for The Planet cricket Giraffes in the English county scenario.
The major buzz in his move was his pulling out from another team to join the Warriors.
The PTI (Planetcricket Truthless Interviews) caught up with Balaji on his ascent in Kolkata to sign up for the warriors.
PTI: Balaji, big news that you pulled out of Rameez's team?
RB: Yeah! It was one of the hardest decisions I had to make in my career. Rameez offered me the opportunity for a comeback after a long injury layoff. Its really a wrong act on my part toward Rameez, but the lure of representing your country can never be resisted.
PTI: IT is reported that you can not bowl fast these days after that injury.
RB: Yes! I cant. It was a horrific accident. My right elbow is not as strong as it used to be.
PTI: So are you playing as a batsman alone?
RB: No! I have practised to bowl left arm seamers and some slow left armers during the layoff. Mind you, I prefer this to my initial pace. This well fetch wickets.
PTI: What are your chances?
RB: I have high hopes. Thats what made me succeed at the Derbys and Leicester. I did pretty well for Australia too before a sudden dip in form. We are a young team and our ambitions are sky high. The young know no fear.
PTI: Any lesson you learnedfrom the injury layoff?
RB: Yeah! Check the toilet floor for any cleansing liquid before you step in.
PTI: All the best Balaji.
RB: Cheers!
