I've written a poem in memory of my Dad who died a year ago today. Thought I'd share it with everyone. Probably the first serious poem I've ever written.
The Land of Great Men
Far beyond the snowy forest and high above the golden sky,
Lies the land for the great men who die,
They reside there in peace watching down on those they love,
Watchful and guiding from the great above,
Always there to keep you from harm,
We carry their souls like a lucky charm,
Ready to listen when they are needed,
There to congratulate us when we've succeeded,
And even in the times we fail,
They help us get back on the right trail,
Although gone we never forget,
Their memories still strong even yet,
When the day ends they still stand tall,
For they are there long after their fall,
Far beyond the snowy forest and high above the golden sky,
Lies the land for the great men who die.
RIP Jonathan Luke Teague 2 July 1958 - 10 February 2011.
