Oh dear lord, what a Panesar. Nobody wants him. He scored slowly, then got out just as he should have been getting set. If he even lasted that long. Which he rarely did. Simply dreadful.

ODI stats: 1,541 runs @ 67.00 (5 centuries, best 119) and 55 wickets @ 24.12 (best 4/31) in 33 matches
List A stats: 6,053 runs @ 45.17 (11 centuries, best 180) and 174 wickets @ 30.21 (1 5WI, best 5/50) in 225 matches

First things first, those stats. Did he stat-pad by seal clubbing the likes of Bermuda? Yes he did. He only played eight of those 33 matches against Full Member opposition, but in those eight matches he scored 298 runs @ 42.57 (including a century against England) and took 10 wickets @ 44.90. This is probably a fairer reflection of his skills as a very good batting all-rounder.

Nominated by: @Na Maloom Afraad

ODI stats: 3,709 runs @ 33.41 (1 century, best 102*) and 182 wickets @ 26.61 (1 5WI, best 6/14) in 175 matches
List A stats: 10,100 runs @ 33.22 (5 centuries, best 114*) and 507 wickets @ 22.31 (6 5WI, best 6/14) in 425 matches

A huge nomination here of arguably Pakistan's greatest ever cricketer. There's not a whole lot to argue about in those stats; if he were to take a batting role, it'd probably be that of a dynamic accumulator for although he could clear the boundary once settled, it took some time for him to settle himself in.

List A stats: 1,045 runs @ 19.71 (best 86) and 57 wickets @ 36.89 (1 5WI, best 5/35) in 60 matches

Honestly not the worst Panesar you could receive. Like he could do a job ish as a firefighter and stock spinner. It wouldn't be a very good job, but in an otherwise strong team you could definitely carry him.

Nominated by: @Aislabie

List A stats: 6 runs @ 2.00 and 0 dismissals in 3 matches

Okay so hear me out here - getting Ray Julian wouldn't actually be a bad thing. Throughout his playing career he was an excellent wicket-keeper - one of the best in England, and good enough to make his Leicestershire debut at the age of 16. He just couldn't bat. Like at all. And he semi-retired after the 1965 season. But there are enough all-rounders out there to balance that out.

List A stats: 83 wickets @ 34.84 (1 5WI, best 5/20) in 85 matches

In a supreme act of irony, the man himself isn't a Panesar in this draft. And I mean he wasn't too bad of a stock spinner, but he offered absolutely nothing else. His sole List A five-for was the only time he took more than three wickets in a game, and he still can't bat or catch.

Nominated by: None (reserve player)

ODI stats: 400 runs @ 16.66 (best 58*) and 29 wickets @ 34.44 (best 4/35) in 29 matches
List A stats: 959 runs @ 18.80 (best 74) and 54 wickets @ 30.90 (best 4/35) in 62 matches

Timotheus Bernardus Maria de Leede was probably the most charismatic Dutch cricketer of his generation and is fondly remembered by Dutch cricket fans and those who found him to be surprisingly good on Brian Lara Cricket games. But it should also be pointed out that his generation was one when the Dutch weren't especially good at cricket.

:zim: :ar: Malcolm Waller

Rejected by
: @Yash.
Nominated by: @Yash.
"Panesar" counter: 7

ODI stats: 1,259 runs @ 19.07 (best 99*) and 10 wickets @ 56.60 (best 2/44) in 79 matches
List A stats: 3,434 runs @ 25.81 (2 centuries, best 115*) and 61 wickets @ 33.67 (best 4/29) in 165 matches

Honestly, this isn't an especially brutal Panesar. Waller was a thoroughly mediocre international cricketer and his stats reflect that, but I think he's always remembered as being worse than he really was because his batting style and kit had a weird way of making him look like an under-14 player who'd bought all his kit from Sports Direct.

Nominated by: @CerealKiller
"Panesar" counter: 8

ODI stats
: 95 runs @ 9.50 (best 34) and 10 dismissals (9 catches, 1 stumping) in 12 matches
List A stats: 167 runs @ 9.27 (best 34) and 17 dismissals (14 catches, 3 stumpings) in 22 matches

Again, this could be worse: you can work with having a proper old-school keeper in your side, it just means more all-rounders later on. Although I can't confirm how good a keeper Tucker actually was given that he played more matches as a specialist top-order batsman than he did as a wicket-keeper.

Nominated by: @Yash.
"Panesar" counter: 9

ODI stats: 3,711 runs @ 22.22 (2 centuries, best 102*) and 207 dismissals (132 caught, 75 stumped) in 189 matches
List A stats: 5,876 runs @ 26.46 (5 centuries, best 132*) and 270 dismissals (183 caught, 87 stumped) in 251 matches

I mean, as Panesars go this one is pretty alright. Kaluwithurana's reputation dwarfs his results many times over, but he'll still do some sort of a job. Plus he was a competent keeper, so that's that base covered.
