Australia Announce 1st Test Squads

Just 3 days till Australia and Sri Lanka meet in the first test match, the Australia Selectors have selected the 12 man squad for the first test. Here it is:

The selectors have been thinking hard about a replacement for Justin Langer. They have chosen Phil Jaques to do this. Will he get his Australian Career off to a good start? Also, Brad Hogg has been included over Stuart MacGill which comes as a surprise. The injured paceman Shaun Tait is also back into Test Cricket.

Will this 12-man squad perform well on the day?
Stay Tuned :)

I would of thought they would of had MacGill and Hogg in the side. Oh and mate, Jaques has already played a test before the summer, Boxing Day 05/06 against South Africa.

Thanks for pointing that out mate.

Except Hogg and Tait, I feel others would do quite well ;) Have to consider the strength of the opponent too .. If it's India, it is completely a different case.. But since it is Lankans, Aussies should be doing Ok! ;)

At first I was thinking how Hussey was bowled by Lee somehow:rolleyes:

1st Test Preview
We are not long from the start of a long Australian Summer. The start of play is due in approximatly 15-20 minutes. The umpires for today's game are Simon Taufal and Daryl Harper. Both teams have been preparing exceptionally well for today's game.
The Australians would like to get their Summer off to a good start and hope to dominate most of the day's play.

Michael Clarke prepares to take a catch

The Australians will have to keep their guard up as the Sri Lankans can be a very good team to face.
The Danger-Men
1. Kumar Sangakkara
Kumar Sangakkara is a pleasure to watch. He has taken up the vital role as a wicket-keeper-batsmen well. He performes exceptionally well in pressure circumstances.
2. Chaminda Vaas
Will spearhead the Sri Lankan bowling attack. Vaas is not known for his pace, but my gosh is he known for his accuracy and swing bowling. He has has experience in Australia on numerous occasions.
3. Muttiah Muralitharan
Murali will be a nucience for the Australian batting line-up. Even the great batsmen have difficulty facing the magician. Approaching 750 wickets, he is the highest wicket taker in Test Cricket history. A joy to watch.

We will take a quick break and when we come back, we shall hopefully have the players out in the middle. Stay Tuned. :)

very nice match preview. Looking forward to this contest mate, keep up the good work
