Quick Singles: The Grand Final Preview
Hello, I'm Paul Mooney and welcome to Quick Singles. I'm joined by one man from each of the franchises in this season's IPL. Firstly, I'd like to ask each of them how they thought their team did. So, Ben, you first, your team has topped the table, you must pleased with that.
Rohrer: Yes, Paul, I'm delighted with how the boys have done. you could definitely argue that we have the least star quality of any of the IPL teams, but we've come through at the top of the table, even though nobody managed to record a half-century.
PM: That must be a worry, surely?
BR: Not overly. We're winning games, it doesn't matter how.
PM: And what about your own performance?
BR: Personally, I think I've performed my role well. I'm here as a finisher, and in my five innings I've notched up 165 runs. I've only been out once, and we've completed all of our run-chases. I think I've done my job.
PM: Thank you Ben. Now over to Graeme McCarter of Coleraine Colts. Graeme, your team couldn't make the final, why do you think that is?
GM: Our bowling was quite ineffective. If you don't get wickets, you don't win games, simple as that. With Gerrie [Snyman], Alex [Cusack], Max [Sorensen], Pieter [Seelaar], Delorn [Johnson], Adam [Milne] and myself, we'd expect more.
PM: You didn't get a game, did you?
GM: No, and I'm gutted. I really feel that I would have done a job. With Max only taking one wicket in his 4 games, and Delorn struggling to get in past Pieter, I'm shocked that I didn't get a game. Especially given my performances for Gloucestershire.
PM: Would you consider moving teams over the transfer window?
GM: It all depends on what the team wants, but I feel that there are a couple of franchises I could join and lead their seam attacks.
PM: Thank you Graeme. We move on to Gulam Bodi, one of the leading batsmen in the competition. Gulam, just how well do you think you batted?
GB: I averaged 60 through the tournament, so it can't have been bad, but my best innings was also the most costly - my unbeaten 98 was too slow and cost us the game.
PM: But you still hit the highest score of the competition. Why did Malahide take so long to get going?
GB: I have no idea. We lost our first three games to crash out, then started looking like a team that could have challenged for the title. It was strange.
PM: Any youngsters to look out for?
GB: Scott Campbell had a fantastic season. He hit the ball hard and averaged 46, took two wickets too.
PM: Thanks Gulam. We'll come to Stormont a little later, but first let's have a quick word with Lou Vincent. Lou? What went wrong?
LV: The wickets. Look at the last two tracks we played on. Dreadful.
PM: But what of the curators, and the effort they put in?
LV: It's a huge effort, I recognise that, but there should still be a better standard of wicket for List A cricket. It's shocking.
PM: Just quickly, what did you think of your team?
LV: Great group of guys, very talented, very unlucky. Could do with a new seam bowler to lead the attack.
PM: Graeme?
GM: It's a possibility.
PM: Okay, now the Warriors. What did you think of Wicklow's performance, Tim?
TM: I think everyone chipped in, and almost everyone had a good season. We just missed out on a couple of key opportunities at key moments.
PM: Do you think you could have gone all the way?
TM: Definitely.
PM: And you seem to have secured the golden ball - two five wicket hauls in five games. Your thoughts?
TM: I bowled well, I admit, and two five wicket hauls are fantastic. But I expect the award to go to George Dockrell. His 13 wickets have got his team to the final.
PM: Fair enough. His opponents in the final will be Stormont Shamrocks. So, Paul, how do you rate your chances?
PS: I think we should win. We're a very talented side, and have plenty of batting and bowling strength.
PM: You've been batting mostly at number four - how is that different to opening?
PS: It seems obvious, but there's always two wickets down. You're always rebuilding slightly, and I find it difficult to play the carefree cricket I enjoy. I have to be more responsible.
PM: And what about the man who has replaced you at the top of the order?
PS: Stuart [Thompson] is an immensely talented young player. What you might find hard to believe is that he's more of a bowling all-rounder. He hasn't bowled much so far because he's young and we've been saving him for the final. But he might surprise some people then.

Strabane Stags manager resigns
After the Stags, who were tipped as favorites for the Real IPL, were embarrassed by Clontarf Firebirds earlier today after being bowled out for 126 on a track which everyone thought would bring runs, the manager of Strabane Stags, User2010 has said, 'It hurts when you build arguably the strongest squad and yet fail to reach the next stage of the tournament. The frustration isn't we are not in the finale but, how badly we lost this game. I think it's time for me to say good bye. It was fun but, I can't really see the team lose the way it did. I have given my resignation to the league manager.' He refused to comment any further...
The league manager announces an inquest into poor pitch conditions at Clontarf for the game against Strabane. The final will have to be played on a different and unused wicket until the matter is resolved. An investment will be made to insure a better standard of wickets next season.

OMG made it too the final. I am going to stick to the same line up, if I got this far, *fingers crossed* they can win me the cup.
Have to say (and The Author will agree) I had a seriously weak team. But I guess Cric-Sim was on my side to get me this far. I really hope I win.
