Couldn't agree more. There are a lot of people on here that are totally up KPs arse. Everyone's a champ when they're not in the team. If Cook, Bell or Trott had got 170 against the same attack they would've been classed as easy runs and not worth talking about.

just a fan of kp so interested in seeing how his comeback turns about :)

I'm not having a go at you. More at the England fans who moan at the current group of players and have actually said on this website that they want them to lose so that there is change, and so KP can come back into the team. I say , get behind the players who have got the shirt on. Too many England 'fans' enjoy England's bad days.

I don't think KP is fully to blame for all that went on, but what is clear is that he's a hard guy to get on with, and it's difficult to spend long periods of time with him. It's his way or no way. Hoggard's story about having to tell him to tone down his IPL big money contract talk in the changing room is a perfect example of somebody who is not aware that his own ego is getting in the way of building good team relationships. KP is a great player, but not very emotionally intelligent.

For crying out loud just get him back in the team!

I'm not sure scoring runs against the worst team in county cricket is a reason for him to be put straight back in the Test team. There are probably two places available for batsmen in the side for the Lord's Test and one of them is as an opener which Pietersen isn't. He's not at the front of the queue for me.

That or Alex Hales 250 odd against one of the best county bowling lineups around the other day in division 1...?

325 now. Next highest score is 336.

Meanwhile three Yorkshire lads who spent their time sunbathing in the Windies are all doing well now they're back in the saddle. Century for Bairstow, a fifty for Lyth and 3 late wickets for Rashid.

Do you really think the team is better off with Bell at 4 than him?

Spoiler alert - it's not.

There are no doubts about KP's talent and his status as a match winner. This 300 just proves that he seems to be in good knick. Any sane selector would pick him in the squad.

Those writing him off should take note of the fact that the next best score this innings was 36, and his team was in a rather tricky situation at 5/160-odd. So for him to score a triple century in the company of the tail is something special. The fact remains that he's still superior to Moeen Ali and the like.
