The Stats Guru

Okay here's mine... which player had the fortunate/unfortunate distinction of having played under the maximum number of captains in test cricket?

Here's another one Spinks, how many batsmen have scored 100's in their first and last ODI games?

And who were they?

Two guys -

Des Haynes (WI) and Dennis Amiss (Eng) right?

Yep. Was reading something about Haynes the other day and I stumbled upon this stat.

Howsie added 2 Minutes and 19 Seconds later...

Frank Woolley btw :p

Thanks.. was genuinely looking for an answer... My initial thoughts were on Inzamam Ul Haq who played under 12 captains... this came as a surprise..

Yeah he's second on the list irrc, Jack Hobbs, Mushtaq Ahmed and Inzamam Ul Haq have all played under 12 captains.

People stealing my Thunder FTL.
Actually, considering you stole the name "Statsguru" and the whole Numbers Game thing from Cricinfo, I don't believe you're in any position to claim theft.

If you insist, then "What is the longest string of matches played by one person ONLY against one team? (Test, ODI and T20)" For example, JP Duminy's first six test matches have been against Australia; what's the longest string of this?

Very nice mate. I think I'll try that one :)

dunno how you find out a definite answer but it will be someone pre-war. probably an aussie as they played south africa less than england.

I've got Syd Gregory who's first 34 tests were against england.

Could be one of those 1800 and early 1900 guys?

got two, Jack Blackham of australia, and archie mclaren of england, both played 35 tests exclusively against england and australia respectively.

I think 35 will be pretty hard to beat. in fact, I'd be pretty confident stating that they are the equal winners. I'm not going through every player that played more than 35 tests but very few that have played in that era, and I did check the pre war ones (pre WW1) and none of them put together an unbroken sequence that long.
