:laugh or that

His stats may only be great for that year but I mean his class as a batsman. Also have to factor in that he usually bats with duds as partners.

True, tried to delete it before anybody got to read it :p, he has been consistent outside 2006 without doing anything spectacular.

Okay the best NZ team I've seen... + Ian Butler

1. Mark Richardson
2. Lou Vincent
3. Stephen Fleming (c)
4. Nathan Astle
5. Craig McMillan
6. Chris Cairns
7. Brendon McCullum (wk)
8. Daniel Vettori
9. Ian Butler (Before he got injured)
10. Shane Bond
11. Chris Martin

Ian Butler is a strange choice, he's not the best I've seen, but before he got injured I just loved to watch him bowl. Although he only played 8 tests, when I look back at my childhood of watching cricket, him and Shane Bond stand out as my favourites. Heck he was actually pretty crap in his 8 tests but something about him made me love watching him bowl!

So yeah that selection basically ruins my team :o

Don't worry, I'd probably pick Southee for similar reasons :P

Or I'd pick Martin just to watch him bat :laugh

That's pretty similar to the best NZ XI I've seen.
I'd like to get Taylor in their somewhere, not really sure who for though.
I'd much rather have Doull or Nash other Butler, although I haven't really seen much of either of them.
Parore or McCullum is another debate, I'll probably have to give the edge to Bazza as I've seen a lot more of him.

I haven't seen much of Nash but If I made my actual Best XI I'd put him in for Ian Butler. The rest is truly the best I've seen though.

I debated opening with Fleming and putting Taylor at 3, but I'd much rather see Fleming at three and Vincent was no slouch in his day either. Although he too had a short test career

@NZers, Tendulkar actually said somewhere that the toughest bowler he faced was Dion Nash. That might boost his CV a bit.

^Yes Tendulkar for some reason was all at sea against Razzaq and Dion Nash in early 2000s. I remember Razzaq getting him 3 times in tri series in Australia. Two were bowled and one was caught behind. Razzaq used to be pretty nippy those days. Nash and damian fleming also had Sachin's number those days.
