The world's cheapest car

Tbh, it seems awesome to me. So much value, so much car, its a bloody full fledged car, and promises awesome Mileage. In this world where space on road is less, I'd take the Nano anyday, just need to see how well can they cope with demand and expectation levels.

It's indeed awesome. Sad the thread's started looong after it has been announced. But anyway, it looks really promising and it's based on and for the "common man" scheme. It's really worthy and looks good in every way.

But people are making fun of it. Hope it proves it's critics wrong though. 'Na'(hindi)'No'(English):D..

"Promise is a Promise, I fulfilled it" - Sir R Tata :hpraise

Nano is great!! i loved the look, we have Innova, Maruti Omni and we will surely have Nano (for our Native place)

Does any one from here planning with family heads to have it? we had already decided :D

but there will be a draw type system and just 1 lakh production (in 2 months) ?

It is brilliant, unless you want to go fast or survive a crash.

We want to buy one, selling our already owned (though also old) Santro, to couple it with the Ikon, just to see how good it is, and most likely for me, I want to drive that cute little thing!

Yeah the current production numbers seem a bit dissappointing, I'll probably have to wait till next year when the Sanand plant comes up.

It can go upto 105 KM/H so I think its fast enough, especially for its fuel economy.

The car's been claimed to survive full frontal as well as side impact crashes, so I think its as safe as most others. Ofcourse if you ram into a trailer / Truck...

Yeah, that's why i was saying if anyone noticed(:p), it's made in a way that conserves resources and disaffects pollution in the least possible ways and it's bound to be made in such a manner that would suit the limits of speeding. So, 'tis a dream car for people who have been longing to buy one that would be affordable and serves perfectly in every way. Way to go Nano, if i save up some money, i'll get one. :D..

That car won't stand much of a crash. Anything over 30MPH (not sure what it is in KM/H) will probably result in bad injuries. It actually looks worse than a Micra for safety.

Speed-wise, most obviously made for the city, take it out into the countryside and open it up, it probably wont want to!

Personally, i'd save up for something more, but from my limited knowledge of India and its roads in cities, i'd say its perfect.

You convinced me with the term, "Limited knowledge".

p.s. 30MPH = 60KM/H(approx.)

I don't know where this debate are arisen from. Do you think the European specifications for side crash safety, and full frontal crash, are piece of crap and are false? If the car has passed those then it must be safe! Unless ofcourse we know better... which we don't mind you.

No, 30MPH = 48 Km/H
And to say that for 48 Km/H is just rubbish, unless ofcourse Simon did a typo.

Moreover, Simon, to me, rather than the cost factor, I'd go for it for its compactness and high average. In a world where space on roads / parking places are short, this sleek thing would work like a charm, and the fuel economy is to admire.

Ratan Tata has said that Nano will be re-engineered for Europe as per the continent's standards state or if it is already in the process which we don't know. But for anything, they don't it blindly, right!?

My bad. I lost my mind and was counting it like miles and kilometers. :p

If I heard his auto-expo speech right, he said it complied with Euro IV for fuel emmissions, and the full frontal crash and side impact crash, making it sellable in Europe.

Indeed. I was about to mention that in my edit and also you'd get the air bag of your wish in regards to colour!:p Wonders if they do make colour bags and also, Tata said they'll be having a diesel version in the near future.

Edit 2; He also said that Nano Europa which is it's european name will be launching in 2011 that is also the release year for Americas? if i'm not wrong.

It is a car meant for India. Now the train-goers and two wheeler owners can look at getting a car. That was Mr. Tata's philosophy was and while it does not have state-of-the-art safety and technology, it definitely offers its target audience a lot more than they have or can have at the moment.

However while it is good to give everyone the opportunity to own a car, you have to think whether cities like Mumbai and Delhi can afford it, considering the horrible traffic situation you have over there. I always hated the auto-rickshaws and something tells me all these Nanos will be no different. I hope they limit production,
