Notts dominate!!!!!! Oh and Blobby, Blobby, Blobby

"So let me get this straight? Titanic was a hoax?"

"Aye, that it was. The Mormons planned it so they could control the world's butter supply."

"Right....Ok, I need to go back inside now."

Bloody stupid idea to do a few autographs. Just my luck I get the village idiot who seemed to be totally insane. Damn, Cooky and damn his ideas. He had buggered of as well, leaving me and Rich to deal with the handful of people who wanted to chat and get an autograph. Actually that was quite a good point, where had the man himself gone? He had been right behind me, yet had vanished. Then I heard a girly giggle. Uh oh, this wasn't going to be pleasant. Sure enough, in a room to the side, he was there with one of the...ahem...entertainers from the interval.

"So, Simon. How is that lump.......down there.......doing? The doc say that the drugs are working?"

The look on that girl's face was priceless. As she stepped back with a look of repulsion on her face, Cooky went charging after me and as I backed out the room rather quickly, she went out the other door. Cook was not pleased and threw a half meant half joking punch at me, which I easily dodged,

"For once, get your brain out of your balls and think of something else."

"We were discussing the financial crisis!!!!"

"Yeah, and I am Mr Blobby "

Was this really me?

Crofty soon turned up and told us to "stop effing around" and get back inside. Nothing like the old fart of the team giving you a lecture on "Your responsibilities to the team......" You can just tell he collects stamps and 3rd Century pottery from North East Mongolia :p

Inside everyone was ready and we all walked out as a team. The Notts openers, Jefferson and Wagh, were already out there wating for us. Good tactics by us. It meant they were playing on our terms. Dizzy and Cooky had the new ball, and I had got myself in at second slip :D Perfect place to see the action. There was a good atmosphere amongst the lads as we reckoned we had a really good chance to win this match. If we could just get a couple of early wickets, the momentum would be with us and hopefully we could strangle Notts out of the game.

Unfortunately for us, Jefferson made it so that we did not have the start we had planned. That very first ball, he tried to drive Dizzy away, but it took a massive edge and flew past myself and Matty before we had even had a chance to move. We just looked at each other in bemusement as that had flown of the bat like a rocket. I moved half a pace to my left to make sure that didn't happen again. Jefferson it seemed had a bit of an Aussie fetish though. He treated Cooky with respect and just rotated the strike with Wagh, but the moment Dizzy came on, it was like watching Boom Boom Afridi (does anyone else think that sounds like a gay porn star?) suddenly appear and Dizzy would be hit to all ends of the ground. The poor guy didn't look to happy about it, as his first couple of overs went for plenty of runs.

At the end of the over, there was a little conference between Mark, Cooky, Dizzy, Matty and myself. We decided to try and focus on getting Wagh out and just keeping Jefferson of strike. If we could get him frustrated him might just try one big shot too many. This meant that we would need some really tight bowling from these two, which was going to be tricky considering Jefferson had put us on the back foot. In the end it was ironic as it was the man who was looking least dangerous who soon became the centre of attention.

Cooky managed to pin Wagh down in a superb over. He managed to get an edge, but it dropped just short of me :( The pressure built up on Wagh though, and he eventually tried, to lift the ball over the in-field. He managd that, but also managed to pick out Crofty patrolling in the deep. Crofty pouched it, and we had finally got the breakthrough :happy Good old Cooky,

"Not bad Cooky ;) Personally felt you took a bit too long and were lucky (:p) but if it works for Mitchell Johnson it can work for you ;)"

Now that we had got a wicket it meant that the momentum should hopefully slow down. Maybe Jefferson would not be so agressive and look at lasting for a long time instead of just slogging away. There was just no way he could continue batting like this and not lose his wicket.

Yet somehow he did.

It appeared the loss of Wagh did not affect his opening partner in the slightest, he just carried on in the same manner as before. Cooky was bowling superbly well, on a cracking line and length, so Jefferson treated him with respect and the pressure mounted up. Yet Dizzy, who was not bowling badly, just not as well as Cooky, was getting hit all over the park. Mark got me to leave second slip and go into the covers. This put me in the firing line as, mini cannon balls came whistling past my head. Halfway through Dizzy's third over, when he had just been hit for six, Mark signalled for me to come over.

"Right Tom, you're going to have to warm up. We are just leaking runs away with Dizzy's bowling and we need someone to back Cooky up from the other end. Just try and keep a good line and length, and let the ball do the work. Don't give him any width either. I'll give you a pretty standard field, but we will just leave the one slip in, meaning we can have a bit more protection in the covers."

"First a century and now bowing in the powerplay overs :p You can rely on me Mark ;)"

I went back to the covers and started doing some lunges and stretches to try and loosen the muscles up. Whilst I am young and healthy, I was still a wee bit sore after having to bat for so long, so the body was not too pleased at having to be called into action again, this early on. It soon became apparent though, that it was neccessary for me to be used. The final few balls of that over all went for boundaries and it was obvious why I was needed to replace Dizzy. He took his cap and slowly trudged off to long leg. That was the walk off a man who had just been destroyed.

Cooky once again came back with a good over, which meant that it was now time for me to perform. Prince was relatively new to the crease. He might be an International player for the best team in the world, but everyone is vunerable early on. Jefferson was my main concern, I just hoped he didn't hit me all over the place and make me look an idiot.

Cooky came over to have a word, whilst I was marking my run up, out.

"As much as we joke around, I think this is one of those serious moments. Basically just try and keep it in that famous corridor of uncertainty. No batsman can smack you constantly around if you bowl there."

He was right as well. All I had to do, was just bowl in that area, which every bowler constantly try's to hit. If I could get it in there, there was a really good chance of a wicket, but if not, I could get the run-rate back down.

I did, however, forget that you needed the umpire's help as well. It had been apparent in this match, that wasn't going to happen.

I had managed to build some pressure up on Prince, and he hadn't scored for quite a few balls. He was beginning to look frustrated. I had a real chance here. A short of a length ball, on his off-stump reared up as he tried to cut it. It took an edge :happy and we all went up as Mark took it cleanly at his feet. Prince shuffled around, like he was going to walk back, but was still peering at the umpire, who was shaking his head.

"Oh, you are taking the piss. How the hell is this allowed. "

No one could believe it. I was just standing there with my hands on my head and Cooky was so frustrated he jumping up and down on the spot and it looked like he was doing some sort of native dance from Africa. Even Prince shook his head in surprise at how he had got away with that. It wasn't even like it was a tiny edge, you had seen the ball deflect and lose power, so that Mark had taken it at his feet. Sure enough on the big screen, snicko came up and confirmed that it had been an edge. Boo's sounded around the ground, and I just stood there with my arms crossed, staring at that bias excuse of an umpire as he fiddled with a button. It was downright pathetic and it was these sort of moments which ruined cricket. I had to now try again, to find a wicket. It appeared it was Glamorgan vs Notts and the Umpires

I didn't see an edge :p.

Not a great start, Notts have started off solidly. Need some good bowling a bit of luck now to get in front.

Jefforson is causing you a lot of problems here. Unlucky not to have the wicket awarded there, Tom. Great work here, brilliant writing and gfx. kiu!

I never knew Ashwell Prince was white :p

Jefferson has got off to a flyer. Tom, the pressure will be on you now as Jefferson will prove difficult to get out. Bowl line and length and see what happens. :)

Great works man! Very good.

HAHAHA! I have to say there is a fair resemblance between your and Mr Blobby. I really can see it!

Hope you bowl like a Pie Chucker as you usally do. Last thing I herd was that pukka pies were offering you an apprenticeship! Never mind the England team I don't reckon you could even make the Nigerian national team!

Nice snickometer, Tom, but I don't think it was an edge anyway. :p

Hopefully you can bowl well and put a good bowling innings ontop of your good batting innings. Dizzy was not very good at all, Notts are my favourites at the moment.

Great read, mate.

Awesome stuff Tom mate, love the random Mr Blobby videos as well, they blates need to get him back on TV!. Nice graphics as well, good story this =D

Nice update Tom. Great work with the graphics.

I don't think NMS is going to hav too many difficulties with getting the score.

Umpires are blamed everywhere these days :D hehe... Cool down, Tommy.. There is always a next chance .. And lol :laugh for that African Tribal dance :p Excellent story.. Keep it up!

I haven't read any of this in a while Tom, but I have to say that it's gotten better since I last saw it. Keep up the great work!

Yes it is. Currently have some problems with Photo Express 6. I try and load it up, but it just won't. No error message, nothing :mad Don't know why?
