Hi Tom,
I have just started to read this story and really have to tell you that you are simply amzing.....:hpraise:hpraise.........reps for you

Thanks for the comments Gary, and everyone else. If you want, the first post of this thread contains all the major milestones so should help you get the gist of the story.

Regarding updates. I have now switched over fully to Photoshop and have done a crash course in it, so comments on my GFX for the next update are really welcome as I have spent quite a bit of time reading tutorials. Aim to have it updated within the next couple of days, end of the week at the latest :) Just been very busy recently

Cherrr mate :p Sounds good :)

When's the next update coming, you...:p a kind request from teh fan. :) You undderstand.. :p

Waiting for an update from u its taken a long time but i hope its a really good one.

Apologies, for the lack of updates. I have got so much happening in real life at the moment it is unreal, plus the 07 forum is taking a lot of my time as people cannot seem to be able to post like normal human beings in there.

Hopefully this weekend I can get some free time. I have it halfway written at the moment

I have decided to end this. Over the last few months I really begun to struggle to constantly update this, and with my graphics card broken I can't even play the game. I would like to thank everyone who has posted in this story over the last year and a half. I think this is one of the longest stories ever. However, everything has it's day.

Thanks,

Ferret Head :D

Match in the Balance!!!

That's right it is back. Summer is here, too much free time, so I thought I would bring this back. Here is a little summary if you do not have time to read back through the last few pages to jog your memory.

- So far Glamorgan are yet to win a match this season
- In this match Glamorgan batted first and scored 258 with the legend (:p) top scoring with 100
- As it stands I have just been brought on to bowl after Jefferson hit Gillespie out of the attack and Notts are now 50/1 off 8 overs.

Enjoy

Well the umpire was trying to screw me over. So far we had established no Christmas cards would be sent to each other. I did not mind though. He was a bitter ginger :p My main concern now was either to get Ashwell Prince before he settled in, or to get Jefferson and stop his explosive hitting.

You guess what happened ;) That's right, the beast with the ferret on his head struck. In true Baker style it was a rather soft wicket, but if I end up like Mitchell Johnson (:p) for getting soft wickets I won't be complaining. I had spoke to the skip and Cooky and pitch it up was the message whilst the ball was still newish and zipping around. I did that, and managed to generate a bit of inswing to the left-handed Prince. He looked to drive me, but got a massive inside edge, and the ball clattered into his leg stump, sending it flying to the ground.

"WOO, COME ON!!!!!! On ya way!!!"

"That is the stuff Tom!!!!"

Everyone came sprinting in and I was quickly mobbed. This was certainly the best batsman I had ever dismissed. I had got Ian Bell once back at Kent, but we know he is crap :p Ashwell Prince on the other hand was the South African vice-captain and a truly massive scalp for me. It just showed that if you pitched it on a good length, it didn't matter who it was, they were still vunerable. Prince was gone for 8 and Notts were now 59/2.

As drinks were all brought out to us we realised that we now had a good chance to win this. The Notts batting had a lot of all-rounders with no real specialist batsmen to come, now both Read and Jefferson were out in the middle. Chris Read had played for England, although he was just another rejected wicket-keeper thrown on the already high mountain of rejects. Still, to under-estimate him was at your peril. He was pretty quiet, but he always stuck in there and with Jefferson looking incredibly dangerous, we didn't want these two getting a massive partnership together.

Unfortunately, they did. The skip tried to put in an agressive field for Read, to hopefully restrict the runs and force Jefferson to try too big of a shot and get out. This backfired though when it transpired that Read was more than happy to walk down the pitch and smack me straight back over my head for a one bounce four and leave me fuming. I did keep it quite tight though and eventually both myself and Cooky were replaced by the oldest and youngest members of the XI, yet both spin bowlers, "Tango Tom" and "Crofty". Hopefully the experience of Crofty and the exuberance of Tom would be enough to get the breakthrough.

These two did manage to slow the run-rate down and with the powerplay overs now finished it meant that we could push fielders back to the boundaries, which did give Notts the singles, but restricted the boundaries. However, we still needed to pick up a wicket, and fast!!!

Who ya gonna call? TANGO TOM!!!!!! That's right. No ghostbusters shiz here, Tango Tom was the man for Glamorgan. After a full pitched delivery to Jefferson had been hit over cow corner for six, Tom came back with the perfect answer, although the match being how it was so far, it wasn't without controversy. I went over to Tom after the six.

"Ok, dick head. Put in a faster one near his feet and see if that catches him out."

"Tom you are such a twat :p"

"Takes one to know one ;)"

It is my right to slag him off, with him being younger than me. Still I am claiming that half of the wicket that he got was down to me. Jefferson got down on one knee rather early and looked to sweep Tom, past Jamie at short fine leg and get an easy 4 to bring up his half-century. However, he mis-judged it and played over the ball, and was rapped on the pads. I had no idea if it was out or not, but was screaming something which could pass as an appeal but instead probably sounded more like a demented chicken being ripped apart whilst still alive. Tom and the skip were appealing though which did manage to cover my episode up :p

Slowly the el perro (yes I speak Spanish and kudos for bothering to read all this) of an umpire raised his finger, and we all came running in to celebrate with Tom, who was looking very pleased with himself. On the big screen the replay of the dismissal was being shown. It was a close one. It looked like it might have just clipped leg stump, but it was a very tight one and Jefferson could consider himself unlucky. Not that I was going to complain of course. We had just got a massive wicket and now had Notts 94/3. This was exactly what we wanted

This now meant that Mark Ealham, one of the most experienced guys in County Cricket was now at the crease,

"Oy, Crofty. You're old! You and Ealham fight in the war together?"

"HA, you wish, the only think we'd fight over is your mum, then again we both could probably fit in her."

Totally burned by Robert Croft :( A sad day indeed. Anyhow, we had to quit the banter and get back to focusing on the match. Ealham would be no mean push over and Chris Read was still going along nicely. Read had hit a few boundaries now and was looking to just keep the strike rotated, finding the gaps in the field and basically just knocking off the runs. Ealham meanwhile was getting himself settled in by keeping out the good deliveries and scoring singles when the oppurtunity presented itself.

Eventually at the end of the 24th over he came down the track and lifted Crofty straight back over his head and out of the ground. New ball please. Whilst a new ball was found, the umpires called a drink break. This was a good time for us to assess our situation. Mark, gave us a good old lecture,

"Right guys. So far so good. We have got their 3 best batsmen out, and I think if we get these two quickly we should have this sealed up. Spin seems to have really slowed the run-rate down, so I plan on bowling Crofty and Tom out, unless there are any emergencies. Basically just keep it sharp in the field and make sure if there are any chances, you take them."

That pretty much summed it up

So far, apart from Dizzy, we had all been really tight with the ball. Crofty and Cooky especially, whilst me and Tom (that sounds weird) had also done a good job. Read was looking pretty settled and his wicket would be the major one to get. If we could get him soon, I felt that we had this match, as there batting was just not strong enough. Still, this match could go in any direction and certainly looked like it would be a thrilling one to watch, but even more exciting to be out there.

Gillespie always was rubbish with the ball...never rated him much!

Great to see this back! :D I think that you may win your first match of the season today!

yh i echo what everyone has said great that this is back by far your best one!!! Glamorgan look like they may get their first win of the season and you might have played a massive role, other county teams may be interested. :)
