Dont worry Tom.. I guess You would be aware of what I am going to post now, " There are no time limits in story.. Update whenever you can " :)

Monday 1st April

As I walked into the lobby I saw a pair of feet sticking out from behind the desk. WTF, is this, I thought? As I moved around the desk I saw Cooky on his back with blood pumping out of his neck,

"OMG, SOMEBODY GET AN AMBULANCE!!!!!!!!!!"

Strangely then Cooky sat right up and went,

"APRIL FOOL"

I had completely forgotten it was the 1st of April :o I felt like a total idiot but was also really annoyed with Cooky as I thought he was dead. I playfully punched him on the arm as everyone else laughed. It was obviously the joke the new boy received on every April Fool's Day. The rest of the squad turned up grinning. Obviously everyone had been in on the joke. I wasn't really in the mood though, nursing a very sore hangover.

As we all filed into the video room the coach stood up at the front.

"Ok everyone settle down. I won't ask why your covered in blood Simon. ;) I have an important announcement to make. With us now missing Geraint and Andy our squad has got very limited batting capabilities. I don't want to promote one of the young guys too early so I've had a look around at a few of the other teams and after speaking with Hampshire we have agreed to get back Michael Carberry who left last season. Hopefully you'll all make him feel welcome."

Michael came out from a door at the back and we all got up and shook his hand. Most of the guys knew him from last season, so he got a pretty good welcome.

"Right that was the main announcement. Let's look at the last match(He pulled the video screen down) As you may have noticed our batting has been our main weakness in all our matches so far especially at the top of the order. Our bowlers have been doing an excellent job but when we start facing solid opposition we need to have a big total on the board. So today I want everyone who bats up to 7 in the nets, and we'll be having our bowlers from the 1XI and 2XI bowling at you. Anyone who gets out within the first 10 minutes has to do 100 press ups. Let's head out."

Oh dear. 100 press ups would not be nice. I went into the changing rooms to get my pads on. As us batsmen headed out the bowlers started sledging us quite a bit. Their is quite a bit of friendly rivalry between the bowlers and batsmen.

As I made my way to my net I worked out who I would have bowling at me.

Damn.

It would be Martin, Jimmy, 2 boys from the 2XI and Cooky who had purposefully positioned himself there with a big grin on his face. This would not be fun.

Sure enough after just a couple of minutes Cooky shattered my stumps with a perfect yorker.

"BAKER!!! 100 press ups."

"Cooky I'm going to kill you"
As I got down and started doing my press ups with all my equipment on.

I didn't get out for the rest of the session though which did please. The skip was going through a bad stage in his batting. He had made very few runs this season and got out a few times today. As I headed back in doors there was a great race for the noticeboard as the team had been put up for Wednesday:

Pro45 Match. Kent v Leicestershire @ Canterbury

1. D. Fulton
2. M. Walker
3. R. Key (C + WK)
4. M van Jaarsveld
5. D. Stevens
6. M. Carberry
7. T. Baker
8. J. Tredwell
9. S. Cook
10. M. Saggers (1)
11. A. Sheriyar (2)

Meet in the changing rooms at 8:00 a.m for a 10:00 start.

Well the big news there was that Niall had been dropped and the skip would be keeping now as well. This would be a bit of a risk as although he was a good fielder the skip did not have too much keeping experience. Also Matty was back after his calf problems. His batting skills would be very useful. Leicestershire are a good One Day side and we would need to play well to beat them.

Great update mate, what the hell is Robert Key keeping for, that could turn out to be a massive gamble.

gee rob key must be very tired after all those press ups a huge gamble him keeping as well

awesome update, funny on the april fool's

also, good nets session you and cooky are getting on well !!!

Never of Rob Key as a keeper before. Great luck in your game Tom. I like the look of the story. It should win a monthly award at some point.

Cheers mate, thanks for voting for me. Well Jones is touring with the England A's and Niall O' Brien was rubbish so the skip will lead from the front, behind the stumps :p

Also feel I should add I have updated the First Post with all the Milestones in my Career to date so people can find things easier.
