Monday 8th April

How slow are lifts? It must have been pulled up manually  I could have walked up the stairs quicker. Plus the lift was stinking of something I was sure I did not want to know. However finally it arrived at my floor. I got out and went into my room. The cleaners had been and so I decided that I would have a quick 5 minute shower.

After a quick wash down, I was now presentable for dinner. Just as I was about to leave my door I smelt something. OH **** IT'S SMOKE!!! I followed my nose and it led me to Cooky's room. Uh oh, I thought. Sure enough I opened his door and there was Cooky having a smoke leaning out the window.

"What the hell do you think your doing? Your going to set the fire alarm off. Put that out right now!!! And why are you smoking? Your a professional cricketer. Sort your f'ing life out!!!"

With that, I slammed the door and stormed away. I had been covering for Cooky, too long now. It was time for him to feel the consequences of his actions. Down at dinner everyone could tell I was in a foul mood. They however had the good grace not to ask me what had wound me up. A couple of glasses of white wine and an excellent steak and kidney pie had me feeling loads better.

After the meal I decided I would use the hotel's pool facilities. I went upstairs and got a towel and trunks and then got the lift straight down to the basement. There was not a soul there. Perfect :D I spent half an hour swimming up and down. After that I got out feeling thoroughly refreshed. I had another shower to rinse myself of and then went upstairs to make a phone call to Gemma. She had been really busy with work in the hospital and had even treated someone who had been shot today!!! She seemed to be in good spirits and wished me luck tomorrow.

I heard a couple of the boys were going to the bar this evening but I decided I wouldn't join them. I had batted for a long time today and still had another innings to bowl. I really needed my rest. It was nearing 10 and so I switched on BBC News 24 so I could check what had happened. I saw there had been trouble with the Olympic Torch going through London:

Well that was interesting. I knew that there were issues regarding China hosting the Olympics but it had really boiled over today. Hopefully this issue could be sorted out soon, at least for the athlete's sake's, as I knew how much hard work they put into training. I was however to tired to be worrying about politics and was soon asleep.

Tuesday 9th April

Thankfully that night there were no unexpected visitors. I slept solidly through till 7 and soon after that, dragged myself down to breakfast. The only person there was Matty who was looking like he might fall asleep over his cornflakes :p I joined him at the table with my scrambled eggs. We discussed the political upheval's and he revealed to me he had a cousin who was currently in Tibet and she was saying the stories of all the Chinese attacks were true and not exaggerated. I was surprised as I know how the press like to blow things out of proportion.

Over the next half hour the rest of the team slowly turned up as myself and Matty finished our breakfast. By 9 everyone was ready and we were on the coach. Hopefully it would be a good day of cricket.

Tuesday 9th April

On the journey to the ground the team were in particularly high spirit's, joking around. There was a lot of banter going around about Matty's mum and a goose  Don't ask ;) However Cooky was being unusually quiet. I leant around the seat to talk to him. He got the first word in though,

"Tom. You were right. I really have been screwing around this season. It's just it has all gone to my head. I'm going straight from now on."

"That's good to hear, Cooky. We've gotta set an example. There are times to have fun and times to get down to work. You just need to know when those times are. That is now ?30 for that session of advice :p"

It was good to see that Cooky had taken on-board what I had said. Hopefully he had learnt his lesson and would be able to get down to the job. He still had to be punished though and I knew that Graham would be having a meeting with him when we got back to Canterbury. Hopefully Cooky would begin to mature up. The rest of the coach journey passed in relative calm, except for some cheeky kid mooning us as he drove pass. This resulted in Ramzz sounding the horn until the parents noticed :p

At the ground we parked up quickly and soon had all our kit ready. The Gloucestershire boy's were already in their changing room's so we headed into our's. The TV was on and the weather forecast was being read out

 That did not look like nice weather. We had to finish this game quickly or else we would be drowning :p As the rest of the team arrived, Graham got hiimself ready for this morning's pep-talk. Eventually he was ready.

"Right lads. We are in a good position. We have perfect conditions for bowling and we have a pretty decent lead. The Gloucester boy's aren't particularly strong at batting so we should be ripping through them. We are going to have Andy and Tom opening the bowling again and they must bowl a good line and length. If they begin to get hit around we might be in some trouble, so give them lot's of support. Just go out there for the final push so we can go and enjoy ourselves tomorrow :p Good luck guys!"

We all got up and began changing. Soon everyone was ready and we went out to warm up. It was the same old stuff. The bowlers bowling at a stump after doing a few stretches. The rest doing fielding practice. It was soon time for the innings to begin. David got us into a huddle.

"Right boys. Our aim today is to kick some ass. Show no mercy as you won't expect to receive any..."

(I butted in here ;))

"Enough of the corny war movie speech David. We know you want to be a famous orator like Churchill."

Everyone cracked up at this. Basically David ended up repeating what Graham had said. Pick up wickets without giving too many runs away. The Gloucestershire batsmen soon walked out. The ground was deserted. It was a Tuesday morning so everyone was at work. I honestly could count the number of spectators on one hand, which was a bit sad. Anyway we had to get down to business. It was time for us to get our second FC win of the season :)

The next update, I can promise you, is going to be superb ;) You won't want to miss it :)
