Tour match thread -Scotland v Australia Aug 28

It would be pretty fickle to drop him when he made a hundred less than a fortnight ago. There are players doing worse than that in this series.

Rest Haddin, Hilfy and Hauritz. Pup as well - he doesn't need the hit.

Make sure Watson, Siddle, Clark, Lee and Johnson all play.

Is it 12 a side?

never said to drop him, but if he (North) fails again in the 3rd test and AUs wants to replace him, they have no specialist batsman. only all rounders to replace him. That was my point.

We seem to have wasted the spot on the keeper. There is a few guys playing County cricket though. David Hussey, Rogers and Cosgrove are already over here, don't know where Hodge is though.

I'd love to see Cosgrove playing in a test match, he is the largest player I've ever seen behind Leverock.

I'd call up Hussey if I was Australia and they dsesperately needed a batsmen. He's got alot of experience in English conditions and has scored well here.

I`d go like this:

Hughes
Katich
Ponting
Hussey
Clarke
North
Haddin
Johnson(give Hauritz a rest)
Lee
Siddle
Clark
12th-man:McDonald

Apparently, Lee is going to play in Northants with a view to bowling in the second innings. It does not bode well. Nor is it fair on him. Suffering another setback must terrify him. He has been bowling fast in practice matches though but the speed guns seem to be as enthusiastic as the police device that recorded the court building as going at 15km/h.

Misfiring Johnson not worthy of leading tourists' attack - Cricket - Sport

Don't think that is enough to get Lee in the side, looks like we have to hope Johnson gets his stuff together.

Haha

Johnson will probably play in the 3rd test I'd say, you can just see him bowling himself back into form during this tour match.

Another good piece on Siddle's problem.

Not even Peter Siddle has been at his best. He has probably been trying too hard to make up for his brother in arms. He has been mixing up his deliveries more than usual, and his accuracy has suffered. Siddle's strength lies in his ability to combine aggression and economy. He needs to get back to those basics.

Sums it up perfectly, Siddle should just stick to the basic and not trying and swing the ball both ways as he clearly hasn't got that figured out yet. Hence he should play in this match to get back to the basics.

It appears our lineup is

Katich
Hughes
Hussey (c)
North
Watson
McDonald
Manou
Johnson
Hauritz
Siddle
Clark
Hilfenhaus

12 a side match.

So the battle is now between Johnson and Clark to decide the final spot in the bowling lineup for the third test match.
