TV Series General Discussion

Anyone watching Touch?

This show looks promising and has a better concept than Knowing had.

The first two episodes were excellent IMO!! Really had fun watching those two episodes. I am not making any guess about the upcoming ones, but I am excited to keep watching the show as it goes.

I'm sure the poms would have already heard of it, and maybe some Aussies too, but the show An Idiot Abroad just started airing on BBC here. Almost finished watching the first series now and it's nothing short of p*** funny.

I can definitely relate to the guy's whole attitude when traveling around, basically just want to stay somewhere decent, go see the attraction, and then fearsome tweak back off again, not get dragged around doing a bunch of useless crap.

Anyway the first season is visiting the Seven Wonders, starting with the Alright Wall of China and then the Taj, so if they don't get you hooked, you probably won't be interested in the rest.

Ha Sedition, you need to get hold of the Ricky Gervais podcasts. Just him, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington. They were basically what made Karl massive. They then did idiot abroad, but also re-edited the radio podcasts into a cartoon of sorts with some basic animation. If you like listening to stuff on the move, get the podcasts. If you prefer sitting down and watching something, get the cartoon version.

Yeah, planning on checking those out when I get through series two. I thought Karl must've been a stand-up comedian or something after watching the first episode, so I checked into it on wikipedia and saw the podcast mention and the two seasons of An Idiot Abroad. Ricky and Steve irritate me a bit, but should be worth a few laughs still.

series 2 episode 2?

got leaked online ages ago but i'll just wait for it to come on tv anyway. i like rationing stuff out otherwise i just consume it too quicky. Read "on the road" in something stupid like 48 hours.

Or the fact I only saw bits of series one, saw the first episode of series 2 in it's entirety then binged on the entire series 1 in a day and a half.

Season 2 has not been leaked anywhere.

I'm on all the major Wares forums, no one has it. So either you are a pirate God or mistaken.

Besides even Season 2 won't quench my thirst. I'm on Feast for Crows which would be Season 4 :(

Have you read the books ?

just episode 2 not the whole season.

and no, i haven't read the books. Not been reading anywhere near as much as i'd like too and can't commit the time to them, got other books to read first. Doubt i'll ever read them either, would like to but i guess seeing the show will take too much of the joy out of them.

The show is pretty faithful to the books.

I've never been one for the fantasy genre but after seeing Season 1, I started reading the books and finished the first 4 in 2 weeks.

They are good

I kind of hammered the fantasy genre in my younger years. from ages 8-however old i was when harry potter finished (17 i think) Harry potter, lord of the rings, the redwall books plus other less well known ones. not saying i have grown out of it or anything just that I think i am a little saturated. I want to focus more on other genres/periods. Russian literature mainly at the minute.

It's a shame really as I know i'd really enjoy them.

On an unrelated note however have you ever heard of the british comedian stewart lee? I think you'd really like his stuff. Maybe some of it wouldn't cross over well in terms of reference to uk popular culture, but i think you'd really enjoy his style

I'll check out his stuff.

I never liked LOTR and Harry Potter.

Ice and Fire feels more adult. You can even see that from the TV series

Will check out that comedian

Yeh I probably will end up reading them at some point. I was a huge fan of the genre growing up, so even thought it's not for me now at some point in the future i assume it will be.

You sort of have to work hard to appreciate stewart lee though and really pay attention. it's not simply just been spoonfed jokes. He's quite inaccessibly really but he's absolutely brilliant if you get what he is doing.

This is probably my favourite bit of his

He's just not at all funny.

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather watch him than Lee Nelson, but no, there's better out there.

(In my opinion)
