To give the teams elimainated in the first round a chance to still compete for something. I think it's a fine format that should be used in the next senior world cup.

yes i like it to...u get alot of cricket and we still get to see some old teams play...

moreover pak and eng made the semis!!! looks like england have a bright future...anderew must love this..lol

well if pak and ind both win their next match(eng,sl) then these two teams will play each in the semis!!!

if ind win and pak lose they play in seperate semis...i am shocked from paks perforamnce...after seeing how they got their butt kicked in their own backyard in that asia tri cup...now that they r dominating...

I'm not too sure if this format shud be used in the senior world cup. Maybe it shud because all the minnows will be eliminated and they shud feel proud of something

I think that 3rd place shud be introduced just like Football and Rugby have it. It wud be a great idea.
