try this:
you have to obtain Xpadder 5.3from somewhere
if you have Windows 7, use Vista SP2 Compatibility

Yes controller goes in USB.

You can use keyboard, mouse and controller all at once.

I made nothing, I just posted the guide here. :p

Thanks. I like the keyboard batting, so will probably use that with the keyboard, then I'll use the gamepad for bowling once I get the game.

Will it work with PS1 controller? Sometimes I play PS3 and computer at the same time, so can't be bothered keeping on switching.

If your computer recognize the controller, it will even work with Attari gamepad. :p

PS1. My Dualshock 3 definitely could connect to my laptop.

PS1 and PS2 have USB controllers. So you should just plugin the USB end into one of available USB slots in your computer or laptop. The Windows will automatically detect drivers for it.

Ehm..PS1/PS2 controller don't have USB ends, you gotta find a 0-lag PS2-to-PC adapter on places like ebay to be able to connect PS1 and PS2 controllers to the PC.

PS3 controllers (sixaxis, dualshock 3) have a usb end, you will need to download some drives for it to work though. A simple google search will lead you to the downloads of these drivers.

Let me know if you actually find the drivers, I tried looking once and only found 1 which did not work and I am pretty sure was a virus.

I see, I'll be sure to let you know.

Though you'll have to wait a while, I'm only getting the game in about 2 weeks.
