Probably that's the reason India has failed to produce brilliant fielders over the years. :p

BTW, what is your highest score in indoor cricket? Just wanted to know the difficulty level of scoring structure according to your rules.

Usually in the 30's to 40's since it's a small room and there are lots of catching opportunities. Highest score is 111* approx by my bro who just whacks it across the line baseball style.

Another problem we run into is my dog, he can't help chasing the ball around and as you can see he already ate part of my ball.

The best part about playing in a small room is that you can put massive spin on the ball by clicking your fingers so its basically all spin and one or two bouncers and yorkers for good measure :p

and we don't play LBW because I can't for the life of me explain that rule to my friends

we play in the hallway with hard wooden floors and ping pong balls, the ball bounces chest high on numerous occasions get the real WACA feel :lol

although now all my 3 autograph bats have autographs on them so i dont think i should use them anymore.

and we usually play cricket after school in the local tennis court where the boundaries are very short but they are fenced so the ball doesn't go too far. the usual score in 10 over games is around the 100 mark especially if i get to bat for a length of time :p

Makes it a bit more challenging otherwise one bounce catch is too easy

One bounce one catch is tough! More than actually doing it, it's the pressure thats involved when the ball slowly lobs up off the ground. You have to remember to keep the other hand down (really against the instincts!!) and time it just right.

I've found that in sports, the more thinking you do the worse off you are :p.

what? :facepalm

:thumbs, so stop thinking on how to catch the ball with one hand and do it.

Haha, I didn't think that was facepalm worthy! I find one bounce one catch tricky, maybe it's because I'm not used to it. Was playing indoor cricket with some labmates and his friends (bunch of indian/pakistani grad students) at Michigan State a few weeks ago. I was able to take one handed blinders but struggled for lollypop bouncers. I guess i'm just weird (nothing new here...:D)

We don't play any sort of indoor cricket, but we play something similar called short pitch cricket. (Yudi, ask Seshagiri :p)
The rules are that if the ball goes hits any wall (not the one behind) un-pitched, the batsmen is said to be out. If he ducks the ball, he'll get a run. If he misses four consecutive balls, he is out. If the ball touches the body and then it nicks the bat (anywhere), the previous misses (if any) would continue and the run will not be given. The catch rule is similar to the original cricket (No one pitched catches:p). One member per team.
We play it in FC style (two innings per batsman). And believe it or not, till now, about 10 matches ended in a TIE:p.
Most runs in an innings is 50:p (I got out on 49, hitting the ball directly to wall :().

PS: We use hard-tennis balls.

We have some similar rules. We played in an indoor basketball court FYI

If the ball hits the back wall after touching any part of the bat, even after bounces, you are out.
One pitch one hand obv
No 'bowling' - this is the worst. Basically have to lollypop it up to the batsman from like 10 ft away, I don't get this one.
If you hit the ceiling you are out.

The funnest game of cricket I've played till date is a single only game that me, my cousin, and some kids around the neighbor hood played in India. You can only score runs in 1s (well you could run more but the lot was so small that it was nigh on impossible). 2 dot balls in a row you're out, 4 total and you are out too. All the fielders are close to the circle and the ball is chucked. One pitch one hand was not implemented.
it was great because you had to play with real soft hands right inside the gap for the quick singles. So many run outs! Lots of fun, and a good mental challenge too.
I believe the highest team score ever was 24 or so in a 4 over, 5 a side game.

i get what you mean, usually when the ball is lobbed up its almost always spinning in the air and if you grab at it with one hand, more than likely the ball will spin off your fingers/palm and land on the ground. :p

Does anyone here plays French Cricket? It requires some open space and is fun to play occasionally.

we played a lot of tennis-ball cricket in school days...

Me striking a pose with Adidas Incruza :D.

Since you took a pic of yourself, it's pretty obvious why you're punished. :p
