Tait's WAY better than Mahmood at present, but he wouldn't make a fully fit English side, that's for sure.
Who says any one of Ponting, Lee, Hussey, Clarke and Warne will be up to international standards at 40? Cricketer's are human, you know, they'll deteriorate soon enough.

IMO, Warne will retire after the Ashes, and Ponting will retire after the next Ashes in Englan. As for Lee, I think he can go on 'till he's about 35, but he'll lose a yard of pace which will turn him from great bowler into a good bowler.

Seeing as Australia aren't scheduled to play a test in between the upcoming Ashes summer and the 07/08 season, it'd be almost certain that Hayden, Langer, Martyn, McGrath, Kasprowicz, maybe Warne and anyone else I may've missed will be retiring in the very near future.
