VB Series Table:
table1.jpg

England top the table by there net runrate and the host, Australia sit at the very bottom. Niether of the top two teams have managed to get a bonus point although in Englands case for them to do so would of meant them finishing the run chase with in 40 overs at 8.125 R.P.O. So England have started strongly but can they keep up this form.

Both of these teams have won their opening game and therefore the momentum is equally shared. England have no chanegs in there line up with them still consisting of the 3 pace attack with Jones, Gough and Harmison with support from Flitnoff and Giles. For Pakistan D.Kaneria makes his first appearence but is likely ot get little spin of this green track.

ENGLAND RIP THROUGH TOP ORDER

cards1.jpg

3 wickets from Goguh and 2 from Harmison have left them in a commanding position with Pkaistna 5 wickets down with in the first 15 overs. However Afridi remains 49 not out smashing 10 4s and making the task of batting on this wicket look easy. However with little support left England will hope to have the innings wrapped up wasy before the 50 over completion. Goguh got the first wicket in his openign over when he found the edge of Umar straight into jones gloves. However at times the Pakistanis made batting look easy hitting 4s to all areas. The wicket of the day so far has to be S.Jones diving catch in the deep after Raza smashed it he dived full length and managed to hang on.
However in the 15 over Pakistan were given a life line after Afrid was dropped by Collingwood at Mid wicket. Afridi, after being drawn into a Pull shot mis timed it and gave a simple chance which was dropped much to the bowlers disappointment.

AFRIDI GOES BUT RAZZAQ CONTINUES

c1s.jpg

Shahid Afridi reaches 50 but departs soon after, after a terrific piece of bowling from S.Jones. After repeat full balls Jones delivered a bouncer which caught Afridi by suprise making him mis time it straight ot Flintoff at Mid wicket. However with 6 wickets down it would be easy to think the game was over, however Pakistan are scoring at just over 6 an over and Akmal and Razzaq have already but on 30. For England Flintoff has been expensive and also wicket less. So will England be able to finsh the Pakistanis of or will Akmal and Razzaq save the game.

4 WICKETS IN OVER FINISHES INNINGS
fi1.jpg

S.Harmison manage to finish of the tail taking 4 wickets in the space of 6 balls. Razzaq was the first to go getting caught at Mid wicket by Jones. The Sami, who lasted just two balls gave Harmison the simplest of Caught and Bowled chances which he happily accepted. The Shoaib Akhtar came to the crease. After surviving a close LBW shout he wasn't so luckly in his second ball when he was struck on the leg, plum in front, Now the Leg spinner Kaneria came out and egde the lenght ball into Trescothicks hands who was positioned in a 3 slip position. In the end Harmison finished with 6 for 38 from 8 overs and Gough 3 for 46. Together they both destroyed the Pakistani innings.

ENGLAND CRUISING TOWARDS VICTORY

innings1.jpg

England have got of to the best possibel start scoring 61 for 1 after the first 15 overs chasing a meer 153 to win. For Pakistan there has been little to shout about and there small Pakistan crowd have been fairly silent throughout the innings. However, on the other ahnd the Barmy Army have been cheering every run which is scored and every boundary which is hit. M.Trescothick showed form from the previous game before Kaneria dismissed him LBW with a ball which didn't spin, however for Pakistan this has been their onyl breakthroguht wiht Strauss and Vaughan looking extremely settled.
