Astle and McMillan get into the act

This partnership has turned dangerous and at the wrong time for India. Nathan Astle and Craig McMillan are making India pay for the lack of a proper fifth bowler. Runs are coming quick and fast for the Kiwiz now. Dravid needs to do something, otherwise the Kiwiz are set to post a huge total.

The crowd has gone silent. NZ are in control at 168-3.

The Indian captain looks worried now, as New Zealand's score reaches 181 for the loss of three wickets. Astle and McMillan show no signs of stopping.

He needs wickets from somewhere!

A Breakthrough finally
Virender Sehwag gets the prize wicket of Nathan Astle, who is really unlucky to have missed out on a hundred by just five runs. A fine innings nevertheless.

An awesome lofted drive for four by Craig McMillan

And there is his fifty
Craig McMillan hit seven fours and three towering sixes to reach his half century. Punished India for some poor bowling in the middle stages of the innings.

Big Partnership has left India in a bit of trouble but the new batsmen could allow a chance of a few wickets or slower runrate.

will be hard chase for india under lights!!!
i bet for NZ

i thought james marshall was the younger of the two marshall brothers...

actually they are twins...

great story though :)

GO NEW ZEALAND!!!!!

A Dravid Special
McMillan had gone bezerk, hitting the Indian bowlers all over the park. And it took a spectacular boundary line catch from skipper Rahul Dravid to dismiss him, as it looked like the ball was heading for a six. But Dravid jumped, grabbed the ball in the air, and was able to balance himself, without going over the boundary rope. An awesome catch by an awesome player. Also with this Laxmipathy Balaji picks up his first wicket of the match.
The dangerous Craig McMillan heads back to the pavillion after a fine innings of 66, that included 9 fours and 3 sixes.

New Zealand FOW 227-5
Craig McMillan c Rahul Dravid b Laxmi Balaji 66(73)

Next Batsman - Chris Cairns
Well with the exit of one hard hitting batsman, enters one more. Chris Cairns is the new batsman for New Zealand, and the Indians very well know how dangerous this guy can be. The depth in the Kiwiz batting lineup as well as the abundance of quality allrounders in their side is clearly evident now.

But Agarkar had other ideas
Chris Cairns' wicket was crucial for India, and Agarkar was the man who got it, with Dravid once again taking a superb catch.
The crowd is back alive again, with the fall of this wicket. Two quick wickets after a long frustating period has got the Indian fans back on their feet.

New Zealand FOW 234-6
Chris Cairns c Rahul Dravid b Ajit Agarkar 1(3)

Next Batsman - Brendon McCullum
Next up is the New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Brendom McCullum. The Kiwiz still have Daniel Vettori to come.

McCullum perishes
Brendom McCullum came in and hit a well timed four through cover in his first ball. However in the next ball, he went for a six, and ended up being caught by Virender Sehwag.
Ajit Agarkar picks up his second wicket.

New Zealand FOW 238-7
Brendom McCullum c Virender Sehwag b Ajit Agarkar 4(2)

Next Batsman - Daniel Vettori
Daniel Vettori is the next man in for the Kiwiz, and we all know he can bat.

New Zealand are crumbling after the loss of McMillan.

Great batting by both Astle and McMillan.
