Why are they all going at once? First Dravid and now Laxman. Just when Indian Test team needed something to raise their confidence, two legends exits. I don't see current Test team anywhere near the standards of old team 2-3 years back. It will be tough journey from now on..

They had to go. And, I don't agree with people saying we don't have players to replace the likes of Dravid and Laxman. I'm sure Pujara and Rahane are very much capable of doing it.

No one are born legends. "To have talent" is different from "to prove". I feel Indian test cricket will continue to be in worst situation. The last series was utter worst, so this time, we expect it to be a bit better, but not what TI was 2-3 years ago.

Yeah, I expected him to bid a good bye at home ground, but I was shocked by his decision.

Also, when RD and Laxman retired before the very same match, why did Laxman delay- players like Rahane and Pujara could have been mentally ready way earlier than what it is now.

Sad to see him go had the best pair of wrists by any batsman of the generation, played legendary inns throughout his career and always did well against the strong team of the day Australia, reminiscent of the way Gavaskar took on the mighty Windies in the 80's era, sadly India are left with no such player nor do I see any so called upcoming youngster being able to fill the void left by the great man, hell the way it looks only Kholi seems to hold some batting prodigy in the future. Dark days are ahead for Team India, the greats are all gone Dravid/Ganguly/Laxman/Kumble.

One of the finest 21st century test cricketers I'd say. The habit of rescuing the team in the 4th innings he got in the latter part of the career was the hallmark of his batting heroics.

Big boots are never easy to get filled but if you do follow Indian domestic cricket, Cheteshwar Pujara is one technically sound man India should bank on as the new specialist #3 batsman. Else, they can have him at 5, Kohli at 6. Try and experiment at opening slot. Get Mukund or Rahane in as Sehwag's partner and Gambhir can be one down as he has the capability to stitch the innings till the young guns gets some experience. Our next overseas tour is in the end of next year so in the meantime the team management should try and do some experiments and at the same time make sure the younger lot gain experience at the highest level.

I am not worried about finding players who can perform for India in the future. I am more worried about our mindset towards test cricket. That'e on the decline.

Wish we can find another guy who can be India's go-to man in a crisis like Laxman.

VVS seems to have had a breakdown of conversation with Srikanth. Else, he would have announced his retirement in conjunction with Rahul. Also, I feel that there is some issue with the team unity as well given that a certain section does not want the old people anymore.

As mentioned earlier in one of my posts, the fact that people like Sanjay Manjrekar lashed out against him does not seem to have gone down too well.

Open support for Sachin and the positive outlook that he should be playing till end of 2013 seems to have irked Laxman. Bias and fear of sacking Tendulkar has contributed to the early retirement of Laxman.

Tough, but exciting. I say exciting because you really don't know what's going to happen, you think you do, but you really don't.

Overated player who had two torrid series against Eng and Aus. 16 hundreds in 17 years is not a good record. A good player but by no means a great. Good to see him stepping aside for the youngsters though.
