West Indian Tour of Sri Lanka, November-December 2010/11

Very strong possibility we could see at least Taylor/Roach together for a sustained period with in the next year. But not Taylor/Roach/Edwards, since Edwards back injury problems seems to gotten really bad.

If the ICC has worries over Shillingfords action. Then they ought to have another look @ Johan Botha then i'd say.

Good start by the WI removing to openers early. Sammy needs to give the ball to Bravo so he can attack from the other end and give Roach some support.

Bravo has been a little wide. Sangakkara could leave those alone all day long. It's just undoing all the hard work done by the opening bowlers early on. They should look to attack and force the issue here, not tempt the batsmen into loose strokes. West Indies should take the initiative, not Sri Lanka. It's they who are on top. The pitch is still doing a bit as well.

EDIT: That's more like it!

Sammy continues to bowl himself for the 15th over in succession

Hate bowling captains. They always try to be the "hero" or chickens out.

But to what end is that a problem? After a poor first over, he bowled 16 overs for 16 runs. You can't write off centimetre-accurate medium pace on a Sri Lankan wicket that is doing a bit. That's most of their pace bowling history. Players like Vaas and Kulasekera have excellent home records. Mathews, Maharoof and Thushara too, if you count one dayers. It's only gentle stuff, but it often works.

Plus if you get a spell so miserly, it means the bowler at the other end can afford to attack more, or have an extra slip.

The question is who in the side is actually prepared to take advantage of that? Roach has shown some return on his talents, but Bravo, Benn and Shillingford seem to be between them a rather unpenetrative selection. It's a quandary no matter how long Sammy bowls himself, because you'd thing none are likely to turn a mere 1 run per over for too long either.

3 quick wickets down, and he let the batsmen settle down, get their eyes in with 16 overs of his medium pace. That's what the problem is.

Got to give respect to Sangakkara, Sachin topples him in the list of highest batting career avg amongst current playing cricketers and he takes that position back with a 100. This champ is surely going to overtake Ponting and Dravid's test records by the time he retires.

Yeah, they only have one bowler who offers more than that. That's the problem. Benn and Shillingford are not good enough to play in the same team.

Sammy taking it a bit too far here with his overs. He has bowled 37 overs so far and is getting hit around by the tailenders. Bring on Roach and let them try to do that against him.

Not following this at all because of the Ashes, but I don't get it. Are these puss trying to bat out all 5 days? They should have declared long days ago, considering how it rained so much.

These current captains are buncha puss!

Whodini?

Declaration just came.

Great bowling by Roach. His first time in the subcontinent (at least in real cricket) and he gets a 5 fer to go along with his 5 wickets from the first test.

I tune in to see some Gayle work, and a ball later...

I am out

He doesn't have enough time left.4-5 years left in him.Besides,Lankans don't get many test matches.
