West Indies Tour of Australia 2010

I was just watching some youtube vids of the good ol' days when T20 was tip and run cricket, Gilly and Roy were commentating whilst they were playing and it was brilliant, I'm guessing the aussies no longer have their nicknames on the backs of their shirts? :(

Yeah they did that in the T20 match between Aus and All-Stars.

I do actually love the Aussie coverage!

Cheeers :happy

I do too, the Aussie and English commentatory teams are the only ones that bring humor into the game.

Whenever there is something funny on the field in other countries, the commentators just say: "Hahaha" or "What do you call that?"

Lame to be honest.

Unfortunately others that watch our coverage automatically start screaming bias, arrogance, stupidity or whatever, seriously who cares...

I like the Aussie coverage and probably find it to be the best in the world tbh, but I can't stand the "younger" guys in the team. The Healy's, Slater's and co. They're nothing but big fan boys IMO.

I love the Channel 9 coverage. Whats good about their coverage is that other than the technology which they introduce quiet frequently, they`ve kept most of the stuff pretty neat and constant like with the TV graphics unlike Nimbus (NEO) who have absolutely shoddy presentation during the Indian home series. I actually enjoy the fact that most of the 9 commentators bring in their own view point rather than just talk about the on field action. Healy is the one who irritates me a bit but the rest are all good, especially Ian Chappel.

I could take some bias from the commentators as long as it is`nt over the top like Amir Sohail, Stutter Ali Khan and L.Sivaramakrishnan. Guys like LS, Arun Lal and Co. do very little than quote the obvious.

Yeah I miss those days, when T20 was just some fun.

I guess you weren't watching the England vs SA Game, but David Lloyd had one of his funnier moments, When Trott was batting I think, and there were men all the round bat, then they brought up a picture of the pitch at lunch and they were saying they were all fielders, it was actually quite funny. The England commentators can get a bit annoying, but I guess thats after you do watch them for hours on end, probably why I like the aus commentary so much.

I was watching this. when I made that post.

West Indies in Australia (5 ODI, 2 20/20)

Itinerary
February 4, tour game v Prime Minister's XI, Canberra
February 7, 1st ODI, Melbourne
February 9, 2nd ODI, Adelaide
February 12, 3rd ODI, Sydney
February 14, 4th ODI, Brisbane
February 19, 5th ODI, Melbourne
February 21, 1st T20, Hobart
February 23, 2nd T20, Sydney

West Indies squad: Chris Gayle (capt), Travis Dowlin, Runako Morton, Dwayne Bravo, Narsingh Deonarine, Brendan Nash, Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Smith, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Darren Sammy, Lendl Simmons, Nikita Miller, Ravi Rampaul, Kemar Roach, Gavin Tonge.

What a disaster. Chanderpaul, Sarwan, Taylor, Barath and Edwards are all out injured. Looks like really weak squad. I was expecting a full strength West Indies squad because of the time off that the players had but instead 5 of the best players are out due to injuries.
Not to mention that the selectors once again went with Miller in the ODIs, omitting Dave Mohammed a far superior bowler in the shorter forms of the game.

From this team that's available this would be my playing XI.

Gayle
Morton
Simmons/Dowlin
Deonarine
Bravo
Pollard
Ramdin
Miller
Rampaul
Tonge
Roach

crap, can this get moved to the International Tours forum.

Still looks like a half decent side to me. Pollard has thrived in Australian conditions so i'm expecting big stuff from him.

well he needs to prove that he can do something in ODIs because he hasn't done anything so far.

Pollard will fail miserably in the ODIs.

1. Bouncy pitches, he will have a go and get out.

2. He is a 'Warner' in that he only performs occasionally.

He would perform better if he opened the innings rather than bat in the slog overs. Than he could suddenly click and dominate like Gayle.

Would rather have this

Gayle
Barath
Sarwan
Chanderpaul
Bravo
Pollard
Ramdin
Mohammed
Taylor
Roach
Edwards

way stronger...

also Daren Bravo is injured so yea, this sucks.

Good time to try a few players then. Smith and Holland could use a go if they haven't come this series and worth seeing where Tait's fitness is.

Morton could be a surprise, he was always fairly tough, but seems to have improved since being dropped. Pollard has done well in T20s, but at this stage of his career, he shouldn't aim to expand upon that at all. He's found what he's good at, now to stick at it. Someone else in the top 4 will need to start playing out of their skin.
