West Indies
Chris Gayle (c)
Sulieman Benn
Dwayne Bravo
Shivnarine Chanderpaul
Narsingh Deonarine
Andre Fletcher
Wavell Hinds
Nikita Miller
Kieron Pollard
Denesh Ramdin (wk)
Ravi Rampaul
Kemar Roach
Darren Sammy
Ramnaresh Sarwan
Jerome Taylor
Looking like a solid team with some good batting and hopefully some good bowling. Having the advantage of playing at home and the experience of already playing lots of matches on this wicket in Providence. The only change I would have made was bringing in Travis Dowlin in for Wavell Hinds. Hinds or Dowlin probably wouldn't make the starting XI but just in case I would rather have Dowlin who actually played some solid international cricket in the past 6 month rather then Hinds who has been struggling since making his comeback. I also think that Dowlin deserves some recognition for stepping in during the player strike and actually doing well.
My XI:
Fletcher +
Gayle
Chanderpaul
Sarwan
Deonarine
Pollard
Bravo
Sammy
Benn
Miller
Taylor/Rampaul/Roach
There are actually 7 bowling options not including Gayle. Miller, Benn, Deonarine for spin and Bravo, Sammy, Pollard with one of the 3 quick bowlers make it 4 pace options.
Darren Sammy could prove to be a really useful player on the Providence wicket with his off/leg cutters and he also adds a hard hitting option all the way down at #8.
Of course anyone would be a fool not to mention that Gayle holds the key to the West Indies success in this tournament. If he can give the team a good quick start with Fletcher then WI will go far in this tournament.
