Not necessary. If youre the 15th best players and all others above you are bowlers and you're a batsmen.
For India, you need to be in CSK, and become a Dhoni fav, bam - your team spot!
For moder day cricketers, excellent fielding is a must. Apart from that buckets of runs and wickets in domestic cricket, or be extremely talented and hope that someone spots the talent and has enough belief to throw you into the team early.
What country are you from. Perhaps you would need country specific help. Each country has different rules and system, and not to mention academis.
