Share with us how youre avoiding/minimizing pollution and your ways of promoting a cleaner, safer and healthier environment!

Read an article recently where Wardens in Norway had to put down a whale, they found like 30 plastic bags in his stomach. The article went on to indicate that experts predict by 2050 there will be more plastic than fishes in the sea. Its this article had me thinking if people are really doing anything at all to reduce pollution?

Another article indicated over 3200 peole die daily in India due to air pollution (slightly above China). The Chinese government have taken steps to reduce air pollution significantly in the last decade such as prioritizing its air quality standards in a five year economic plan. Recent times Delhi had to shut down schools due to pollution from Coal Plants.

Many such issues are known but take the right step today and make a cleaner world for us all!

Nothing. I don't care about my carbon footprint.

I'm not a greenie in the 'chain myself to a tree' sort of way, but I like making my $$ stretch which kinda has the same effect.
  • I make my own furniture, usually from local timbers.
  • My state forces you to use reusable bags, single use plastic is banned from shops
  • I walk as much as I can (tho live in country)
  • We have a very small veggie garden
  • We compost
  • I work largely from home.
  • We have the 10c recycling thing for bottles
  • Cloth nappied our kids
We also aim to buy long lasting things. Our philosophy is 'buy the best you can afford at the time without going into debt'. So when we were starting out we had the cheap and disposable type things, the $10 toaster etc. As we've needed to that's slowly been replaced by longevity. Now it saves us bucket loads of $$ and we don't have much in the way of household stuff to throw out. So yeah, I imagine my carbon footprint is probably less than alot of people.

There are some stupid things that happen that bug me tho, In my younger days I worked in furniture sales. There one of the ranges was made from radiata pine. That was sourced from South America, shipped to Indonesia where the furniture was manufactured then furniture wrapped up, shipped here to Australia and sold.

We have massive pine plantations here. I'm all for helping other economies develop, but the amount of fuel and crap used to transport the timber was ridiculous.

Err young man???
Nothing I do will change anything lol I'll be dead soon and everything will be as is. I'm heavily invested in oil too :-p

To be clear I don't litter or anything like that but I am not going to go out of my way for a cause like being vegan because it helps the environment or driving a Tesla. I like chicken wings too much and I don't drive much anyway. I do things only for my own benefit, for example I grow my own veggies, herbs, spices and chili because I don't mess with GMO crap and I love cooking so I prefer to have fresh crops.
