Oh wow, i did not just read that.moza1 said:Thats stupid.
He has got a better record as captain then a lot of previous captains.
Calling me stupid.
Well where do i start.
Lets list the regular players in his team. Langer, Hayden, Martyn, Clarke, Hussey, Gilchrist, Warne, Gillespie, Lee, McGrath, Kasper, MacGill.
Look at that team, it's full of stars. He also had Boof Lehmann playing for him too.
That team was rated right up there with the great West Indies team of the 80's.
His record is worse than it should be, he makes alot of stupid decisions, he just has a superstar team to carry him.
His decision making in England was appaling. In the ODI's his fields were all wrong, he didn't bring up the fielders to the tailenders to stop the single. He didn't have any slips at all for the tailenders.
He was worse in the tests. He bowled first after losing McGrath and Warne was his only real strike bowler at the time. He constantly turned to Lee to bowl even though he was failing and Flintoff and Pietersen were just tonking him all over the park. He refused to try anything different. It took him forever to bring on Warne when we were struggling. He didn't try different fields to any of the batters, he didn't have any set plans for Pietersen, Flintoff, Strauss. The only real plan was to bowl wide outside off to no footwork Tresco but even then thats not a real plan because he didn't have the field to match it.
It's easy to sail a ship when the seas are calm, but Ricky Ponting is like a blind captain during the rough times. Cannot see what he is doing, or what he should be doing.
Worst Captain ever. Give me Stephen Fleming any day.
