Hello there phone experts!

I'm a little confused here w.r.t to memory cards and seek you expertise on the same.

I've a Samsung Galaxy On7 Pro phone. The specifications of the phone list the memory card slot as "microSD", expandable up to 256 GB.

I'm planning to buy a 64 GB card. But all the products that I find online are of type "microSDXC". Does this mean that a card of that type won't be supported in my phone? Why isn't there any card of size 64 GB with type of only "microSD"?

That is because microSDXC means it supports memory from 32GB to 1TB. Since you are searching for 64GB card, it falls to this category.

No. That card will support your phone.

microSD is just an indication that the card of type microSD should be inserted.

If you wanted a card of 32GB, then you would get microSDHC because microSDHC supports memory upto 32GB.

So in other words, if the memory card contains the term "microSD", I"m good to go?

In most of the cases, yes

Aha! That's what I'm worried about. Is there a way to know it for sure since the phone make and model is already known.

What @zwarrior mentioned about different SD card formats is partially right. But your phone must support that format SD cards. i.e, If your phone supports HC cards then it will not support XC cards irrespective of the memory card size.

You need to contact the nearest service shop to know the compitability of your phone which is very instant in getting the reply. Another way is to send a mail to Samsung company about your query and wait for their reply. You may or may not get the reply very quickly. That depends on speed of customer service to respond to your query.

But when that device supports upto 256GB, it should be capable of running microsd XC cards.

Thats where I'm stressing it. Even if it supports upto 256GB, it is not necessary that it would support XC or HC. I maybe wrong here but official confirmation from Samsung or through nearest service shop would be better.

Ya true.

Always , check the official site of the makers to confirm.

The official site also mentions it as "microSD" (no idea about HC or XC) but the expandable memory is listed as 128 GB and not 256 GB.

SDHC max capacity is 32GB so if it supports higher than that then it does support sdxc
