World Test Team

Add Peter Siddle to that backup list as a fast bowler.

Took 9 wickets in the Aus Domestic FC grand final last year and averages 21.

Batting lineup featured Phil Hughes (future aussie opener, 19 years old, averages over 50 in first-class cricket), Phil Jaques, Simon Katich, Michael Clarke & Brad Haddin.

Unlucky not to get a 10fer aswell. NSW declared at 7 or 8 wickets down.

Phil Hughes aswell - Made 100 in Final aswell.

1) Alastair Cook (C)
2) Nasir Jamshed
3) Shaun Marsh
4) Luke Pomersbach
5) Manoj Tiwary
6) Rohit Sharma
7) Andy Hodd (WK)
8) Ajantha Mendis
9) Tim Southee
10) Dale Steyn
11) Ishant Sharma

Team of the future ?

I can see where you are coming from. But Rohit Sharma has a poor FC record. Tiwary has looked at sea against good bowling. Jamshed has done nothing to prove himself as a 5 day prospect either. If you want a massive prospect, check this guy's FC record out. Few people do well in a debut against the Pakistani champions and then sustain the form throughout an entire season.

Is Andy Hodd that Sussex keeper?

Not strictly relevant, but is Dirk Nannes the guy who is supposed to be the third quickest bowler in Australia?

Rohit Sharma's FC records aren't THAT bad, they've certainly improved. He averaged 21 at the start of ICC 2006 in FC cricket, and he's pushed that up to 37 in 2 years, with a double hundred a few fifties. He's also shown maturity beyond his years in the CB series against Australia, and I think he'll be a good test player, he certainly plays top quality bowling very well. He could be a Michael Vaughan, who has poor FC stats considering his stats, where he struggles against the county trundlers and medium pacers, I think Sharma could be similar.

Tiwary can't have struggled that badly against top bowling, he averages 54 with 6 hundreds, and his 1 ODi appearance was after just flying in from India, so that can't go against him. He's got fantastic FC stats for a young player. He also emulates KP which also works him into my team :P.

As for Jamshed, he was the leading run scorer in the Pakistani Domestic season, and has very good FC stats for such a young player. It's amazing to note that he's only a month and a half older than me, and he's already played 7 times for his country, and was impressive. There aren't many young openers as good as him.

Rahane has brilliant stats, converting 9 fifties into 3 hundreds is very respectable for a young player, not as good a conversion rate as Tiwary, but still very impressive stats. I'd not heard of him before, due to my lack of knowledge of the Indian Domestic game, but he certainly seems a talent. Will have to look out for him.

Andy Hodd is indeed the young Sussex keeper, everyone that's seen him play has been incredibly impressed. He'll have to move counties soon to get a real first team place, as Prior's been impressive thus far for Sussex, but Hodd's a top talent. Very good keeper and more than useful with the bat. Definitely one to look out for. Are there any other top quality young keepers around the world ?

Now THAT is a team and a half :D A few players were unlucky to miss out though, such as Adil Rashid, Luke Wright, James Harris, Heino Kuhn, Shaun Tait, and a few others I imagine. What you think ? Team of the future ?

Badrinath!!

Badrinath!!

He said it's the team of the future. Badrinath is already almost 28 years old. I think he knows Badrinath is a class act because he's said it before, but his age keeps him from being in the World Test XI of the future.

Yeah but Nannes has just turned 32 years old and has played 10 first-class matches whilst Siddle is 23.

Siddle gave it to Brett Lee in the final aswell.

Oh. It wasn't anything to do with your post, I just saw that you knew about Aussie Domestic Cricket.

Surely, Dinesh Karthik is better than Hodd. He is only 22, soon to be 23, as well.

Dinesh Karthik hasn't proved himself at seven, although he is a good middle order batsman and very good opener.

If I was picking players who have been performing in their resective domestic competitions I would have picked Badrinath. I went for an under 25 team, and Badrinath doesn't fit into this category. I know how talented he is, but he's not under 25, so doesn't get into my team.

good squad for the future, kinda funny seing Steyn in there because it seems like he is older than 24.
I would have found a spot for Jerome Taylor somewhere in there, maybe instead of Sharma or Southee.

Southee is brilliant!

Yeah, He is. But if he was, he really should be ripping through the English batting line up in more bowler-friendly conditions than NZ.

Still, I just wanna see him hit 6's against Monty.

how old is steyn?

he is not just one of the best young bowler but top 5 bowlers in the world absolute superstar imo
