England's ODi/T20 team is actually:
Bell
Prior
Shah
Pietersen
Flintoff
Collingwood
Wright
Patel
Broad
Harmison
Anderson

Panesar doesn't get a look in for the ODi team, he's not a good enough OD bowler.

actually, i feel Panesar or Swann should get a chance in ODIs as having Samit or Luke at #8 causes an imbalance in team composition.

furthermore, they are merely batsmen who can be handy bowlers againt teams like S.A [spinners like Samit are their Achilles heel] or N.Z or W.I but India , Aussies & Pakistan will take them to the cleaners !!!

Also, they are wasted at #8 as batsmen.

Patel took a 5fer in the ODi series against South Africa. Also, considering England's proneness to collapse as a batting order it's good having someone like Patel or Wright at number 8. The Batting order is changeable as well, if England are batting slowly and a wicket falls, Wright can be pushed up to give the ball a whack. I think having Patel and Wright in makes the team look stronger if anything. Both are very useful All-Rounders.

Patel is the number 7, Wright in the last series was a spare part at number 8, often not bowling.

Yeh, but Wright's still good enough to be in the team. His batting can be truely destructive, although he's not really shown it on the International scene, and he's proved in the past that his bowling is very useful, reaching very impressive speeds into the late 80's. I could see Graeme Napier filling a similar role for England if he has a good season next season as well. He often reaches 92mph and is incredibly accurate, and has a hell of a whack on him. I'd have got him into the Twenty20 team tbh.

It has always baffled me why Napier does not fill Wright's role in the ODI and T20 team. After all, Napier>Wright with the ball and the difference with the bat becomes negligable down at number eight.

Yuvraj Singh would never captain India in his life. I think the selectors should appoint Virender Sehwag as our v.c
