Xbox 360 v PS3

The PS3 is more reliable. Mine hasn't shwn even the slighest hint of being a bitch. Whereas the Xbox had several affairs, never called to say hello, always went off on shopping sprees and bitched about when I left the toilet seat up.

Ring of death = Hardware malfunction due to terrible "putting together," by Xbox. But they were known for online abilities rather than putting a console together.
So by the looks of it, Microsoft have fail on both parts.

It's true that the hardware of the 360 was incredibly shoddily made, but in recent times there have been definite improvements in the quality of build, and far less hardware errors have been occuring. The 360 Elite has far less problems, is quieter, and looks nicer, and has a bigger HDD. The online facilities of the 360 are also fantastic. Live is the greatest online gaming community ever, has some fantastic features, private chat whilst playing different games, webcam use on Uno, great lobbys, just everything is well made. I love the 360, but the PS3 just offers the multimedia side of things, which is what i'm after. Both are magnificent consoles.
That sums up this whole thread in what, 4 words? Its down to personal preference. Both consoles offer a great deal and its impossible to just say which is better.

Good news I'm 100% going to get the ps3 now because I spoke to my mum and working with Microsoft she reckons she can get me a 360 too 
then I can offer an unbiased opinion althouh as I've said i'll always have a soft spot for the PS.

Have they increased the build quality of the Arcade version as well, because that's the one we're likely to get since it's only just above ?200 and we probably won't be concerned with Xbox Live?

I'm probably going to get one of the two, but am finding it really difficult to decide based on people's opinions, price, games available etc. So, I'll put a bit about what I'm looking for from it and maybe you guys can offer your advice on which I should go for:
I'm not overly fussed about online features. But it would be nice to try it out now and again.
I'm looking for the machine with the most exclusives (eventually!! not which has most now).
I would like a quiet and reliable machine that isn't going to give me hassle.
I will probably use it as a DVD player.
Any other questions that people have, that may be able to help a suggestion, ask away! If you have all you need, throw your advice at me.

If you want reliability and a free online system James then definately the PS3. I have been told it doesn't cause any hassle and will play DVDs without trouble. The Xbox may malfunction after a while and its online system (Xbox LIVE) costs up to £35 a year. Well worth the money though.

Think I shall go for the PS3 then. Will have to research to get the best deals. Best one I found so far was Game for £299 with Virtua Tennis 3.
