Your current take so far on the new rules

Get rid of the supersub rule and make it 12 a-side with 11 batting and 11 fielding, as I believe they do in the ING Cup in Australia.

Powerplays should be changed so that they can't be taken in one go, as saisrini said in the previous post.

Also, the time powerplays are taken should be up to the batting side. The whole point of fielding restrictions originally was to give the batting side an advantage. So at the moment, the fielding side are chosing when the batting side has an advantage. Obivously, you need to stop the batting side taking their poswerplays within the last 10 overs.

I don't disagree in the sense that it would be a good idea, but I don't feel it would be signifigant enough to make the game any more interesting.

12 a side with 11 batting and 11 fielding? How will you use the 12th player then?

I like the idea of the batting side choosing the Powerplays! Obviously the captain of the batting side might not be able to do it if he is not batting in the middle! He has to inform his batsmen of when to take them! Also the batting side should be barred from using the Powerplays in the last 10 overs! So ideally it should be between 15-40th overs (10-15 should also not be allowed as they would use it in one go)!

I think the problem that might become of ODI cricket is that bowlers will need to become more and more fantastic while any old batsman can hold their end up.

The rules suck.

I couldn't agree more. I think powerplays and super subs should be scrapped. ODIs are still as exciting as ever without the new rules. Why should the worst batsman be excluded? What is wrong with just having the first 15 overs for fielding restrictions? If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I agree Williams, if you want these fancy rules put them in 20/20.

I know I was one that wanted change to the ODI but this is ridiculous. I now want the old 50 over game back.

Im going to say it straight.

The new rules are crap! Traditions of the game will be ruined if they introduce them, and cricket will become to predictable.

Stick to tradition I say, and lets not go for technology.

Traditions?

Cricket has been around for 400 years, ODI cricket has been around for 35 years?

Your point?

These are traditions. Ive done work on this so i know.

The technology in the game hasnt changed much, in terms of umpires decisions bar the run-outs. I think the run-outs was a good one. However these new ones introduced are utterly stupid. They will ruin the enjoyment of cricket, watching and playing.

i dont get whats a power play:S

Normally, fielding restrictions were for the first 15 overs! Now with Powerplays, it becomes 20 overs of fielding restrictions with the first 10 overs being mandatory and two blocks of 5 overs which can be used at the choice of the fielding captain! So basically, the first 10 overs have field restrictions and the fielding captain can choose which block of 5 overs can he use the other two powerplays with!

The problem with introducing a rule which is complicated to an ordanary cricket fan, I though were trying to simplify it!!
