Zimbabwe Domestic Cricket

Possibly. We probably won't know until the T20 World Cup Qualifiers. Zimbabwe Cricket don't release information about kits, and they usually don't even have many shirts & hats to buy during games in Zimbabwe. I've been wanting a shirt for ages, but the only place I'd get one would be on ebay I'd say.

For a Cricket Board that's struggling financially, you'd think they'd put more effort in to selling merchandise, both in the country and overseas.

Hopefully I can get a shirt and cap at the Cricket World Cup that's being played in Australia & New Zealand. Should be able to get to the Brisbane & Canberra games, so will be really disappointed if I can't get them there. :)

Just had a quick look and there is three vintage Zimbabwe shirts on ebay, one with the old mutual sponsor on it. Looks like they are more collector items, then something I could wear.

Another century! This time for Chakabva. Nice to see some of the national side players doing well. Raza & Mutumbami also getting good scores and how unlucky for Vermeulen, out on 99..

Swirler do you think that Vermeulen could return to the national side? I know he's getting on a bit but he's a solid player.

Can't see why not. I know he has back problems that do trouble him, but when he does play, he seems to score plenty of runs. We have a shortage of openers, so I'd be happy to see him open In test matches.

Great effort from Chakabva. He can continue to pile on the runs tomorrow as well. Hope this keeps him in the country, so he doesn't leave to go to Australia. :)

Indeed he did, 240 is a great effort :)

So it looks like the Eagles should win this one unless Taylor sticks around for a while and gets a partnership going with someone else.

Both matches ending in a draw.

Brendan Taylor with a century in both of his innings, fantastic stuff :D

The madness continues. Mountaineers and Rhinos decided not to play due to the strike. Rocks and Eagles were willing to play for some reason, so It looks like the Rhinos decided to play a second XI. The Eagles v Mountaineers game has been cancelled though. :/

Will be interesting to see if anything good comes of this. Looks like the players might not back down this time, which is positive. Also Brendan Taylor getting involved this time. Hope the senior players stick together and work-out some terms which will help get cricket in Zimbabwe working again.

55 all out after 23.5 overs. Looks like none of them knew how to hold a bat properly..

So i'm guessing if the 4 day match goes ahead then the Rhino's will get absolutely stuffed unless the payments are sorted and Taylor & co return to the squad.

Both matches cancelled today without a ball being bowled. Surely there comes a time when players like Brendan Taylor need to stick their middle finger up to Zimbabwe cricket and go abroad and play. I think he should follow in the footsteps of Kyle Jarvis and come to England to play, he's had offers before from English counties so I doubt he'd have trouble finding a county side to play for.

I'd rather see him stay and try and fix cricket in Zimbabwe. Not being paid match fees doesn't affect him as much as others, given that his family has money. But we need the senior players to stay and support the young and inexperienced players, so they get paid what they are owed.

I don't have high hopes for the strike achieving a lot, because even if key members of the Zimbabwe cricket board leave and there is a restructure, there isn't really people in the country to properly run everything without it going back to being a corrupt board. The only hope is for the ICC to find people to run the board, and make sure that it's controlled by them. I don't know if that can happen.

I can see Taylor being one of the last to leave, given his support for the country and his strong connection with the previous players Grant Flower, Heath streak and so forth.

Just waiting to see what happens now. At least the players appear to be determined this time. :)

But if he's not playing cricket then he'll just be wasting away and that would be such a waste of a talent...come to Kent CCC Brendan! :cheers

Well he's always said that he'd rather play International cricket over domestic cricket in another country. So if / when we lose our test status, he might as well go. You're right I'd rather see him playing county cricket, than none at all. :)

I could see some players heading for England and some to New Zealand, but at the end of the day Zimbabwe is not where their future lies, which is sad
